next in the modelling process is probably attaching a hand and animating and skinning. Although if I were you I would do some major modifications to this model. I'm not sure if everything is one object but I'll assume it is and say that firstly, a sqare handle is NOT comfortable, move some vertices. Next, there isn't enough detail unless this is just a model that you see in hand or on the ground, it wouldn't work as a player model in their hands because of the lack of details, unless you're some master skinner. Research real guns, think hard about your design, and you should be able to come up with more to this gun. Right now it looks like a simplified miniature uzi (not microuzi like SOF, yours is designed more like a handgun with uzi shapes)
I disagree, it's all in the extrude tool and vertex pushing <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
<span style='color:white'>And this from someone with 14 posts. Tsk.</span>
chamfer the edges ya retard, to save urself a couple o hours.... go to edges sub mode select the corner edges of the pistol go to chamfer and click and drag on the screen (might wanna lock the selection first)
extruding is way more annoyin when u get to complex models
lol...this was just meant to be a joke i was surprised some of you took it seriously, but i am equally surprised at the friendliness and helpfulness of some people on this board
i used to model quite often on this board...but that was a while ago now i dont recognize any names when i log on.. snif...
gomnesai, kusanagi-sama, but i grew tired of doing the skinmeshing like I said, the model is still there for anyone who wants it and if anyone has forgotten what it looks like :
some of us oldies are still around mcnoob, i knew you could model and watched the little fish attack teh bait. you should really finnish uvmapping that weapon it looks nice.
OMG OMG OMG!!! Crazy! that thingie from ghost in the shell?! <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif'><!--endemo-->
or maybe, Mc Noob, you could write up a little more of a UV mapping "tutorial" for us, so we can figure out how to mimic your awsome l33t-ness.... i know that i'm a noob modeler, and that i know nothing...
i've just got a handel on extrude, and well, your screenies make me drool...i've gotten a handle of Photoshop, and have re-tooled a few of the defaults, but i kinda want to move up a step... or back one (in the model creation process) but can't find a good tutorial, or explanation.
i've got tons of questions for somone that knows how to make things like those in your renders, but it seems that all the people that can make things like that, don't have time (or patience) to help a noob along.
right now, i'm trying to work my way to the middle of modeling, starting on one end (decompile/re-compile) and working my way back (textures)... and also starting on the other end at the same time (verticies/faces/general manipulation) and working my way to the end (animation and such)...
so in other words, if you don't want to UVmap/Texture a model, and are willing to ubmit yourself to many, many, many "stupid questions" hit me up with an e-mail including information on how to contact you with these questions...
after a few weeks, i might just be a little better than you showed in your first screen render....we might be friendly, but some of us (especially me) are noobs....
Good Work with those cool looking models, i cant do anything, i put a few boxes together to loook like a man, and then i couldnt find out what to do , lol no tutorials for me, 10page of reading sif! anyway mcn00b u are coool
I can try skin those babies <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> But then i need the models so... Why don't you send them?
ive been waiting liek, 4 years fer duke nukem forever. i still remember some of the first pics given out. 1 of a automatic crossbow thingy replacement fer the rpg
Please release your unfinished models in some capacity. I'm sure someone will pick them up if their easy to access, just make sure that someone out there will notice if they steal credit ; ) Hell, I could take a stab at meshing one of them, then lose interest and disappear from the boards for a few weeks...Oh yeah, HI
