Ns_shaft marine spawn

Heres the marine spawn for ns_shaft. Its not really done yet tho, I still have to add the command center and tweak some things. Thx to merk for helping me out with some stuff, this map steals teh hera lighting D: I'll have some more screens when I finish this area.

    I'm really liking the way things look here.  The lighting is fantastic, and the architecture is fantastic, and the texturing is fantastic.  I'm definitely a fan of the cold metal look you have here.
    I'd like to see more pictures.

    At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I think these shots are absolutely amazing, and if you scrap this map, I will personally visit you and bring my friends Vinnie and Rocky who like to play kneecap golf.  If I had to change one thing though, I think the texture on the side of the keypad in the second-to-last shot might look better if it were grey instead of the brownish tint.  Anyway, keep up the spectacular work.

    Only thing I don't like, it loosk really good tho, is that console pannel texture, it looks all blurry, maybe a sharper one?

    I'm going to have to say that I don't like the point lights over the light overlays... Just looks... Not quite right...

    Yeah they look a bit unrealistic, but still add a lot to the map imo. Maybe I'll redo them with twice the amount of point lights ;o might fix things a bit. But anyways I just got Morrowind so I cant map much right now.

    BTW did you see the screens on page 2? the overlays/point lights look a lot bettter there.

    Those are the ones I was talking about. The point of the overlay in the first place is to give the illusion that there's more defined lights, and adding an additional pointlight over that is overkill, in my opinion. Light also does not behave that way -- you have light strips running down a wall, there's not going to be a little circular glow on the wall around the light, especially if it's an inset type feature. Try taking them out, I really think it would make the scene look a lot better -- they almost seem to add a cartoony feel to the area.

    The only things I <i>would</i> suggest are some of the textures in the shot with the window. As previously mentioned, the control panel looks a bit fuzzy, likewise the floor texture - everything else is so beautifully pin-sharp that they look out of place.

    If the rest of your map looks even half as good as these shots, then I'll probably find it impossible to play properly - I'll just stand around, admiring the architecture... <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

    I wanna map now...but I got some Dungeon Siegin to do...Sweet game..get it...anyway...It's sorta annoying..all those blue lights at like 1 ft apart...maybe make the texture bigger and palce the lights farther apart?
