Hey, why not put a poll out wuth the 3 obvious choices:
1- Keep it as is 2- Add scoreboard for marines 3- Remove scoreboard for the aliens ?4- New score board not based on kills

yes, not having a scoreboard encourages teamwork. Back in the day when I played Unreal Tournament I customized my HUD to, among other things, not show my personal score - I found that I stopped thinking about it during the game and concentrated much more on teamwork.

Great now that whining idiot outside the CC will have even more "ammo" to use when he askes for ha/hmg because "i kill so many aliens while you didnt kill any!you suck!".
The scoretables should be deleted from both teams, (no points for frags anymore). Instead of this completely new scoring system should be added, ie. defending hives/locations/capturing resource nozzles, hives from enemy. If you take away the score board every thaing goes. Even the aline who's who board that tell's us who is playing what caheractor. I'm not sure if anyone've mentioned this, IMHO, but the scoreboard can be an important factor in motivating marines to follow their comm's orders. Explained, it means instead of basing the scores on frags, why not base it on how many ORDERS a particular marine had actually completed?
For example, if my comm gave me a waypt and I reached it, I may be awarded 1 point. If I am ordered to get a structure built and I accomplished that, I get 2 points.
This way, marines would be motivated to follow the comm's orders, wouldn't they? Aliens can keep their scoreboard, Marines can get one that is actually productive. Hmm? In my (limited) knowledge, this system should be relatively easy to implement.
i play comm a lot, and in my experience, my MVP marine almost always had top frags. im not saying that marines should have a score, because THEN people might start ramboing more. it may be a coincidence, but AS OF NOW the status in console brings up a pretty good view of who are the best marines. its not always true however, of course. it would be nice to have scores added up differently, but the medals idea (gr82d8 i was thinking of exactly that too <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> ), i think, would be GREAT. it would make more marines want to follow orders to get medals. comm can drop weapons with like a marker that says "for sergeant rank only" or something, so n00bs cant steal it, and the best marines would always be equipped first. people that dont follow orders can get medals taken, etc. that would be awesome, makes commanders job a lot easier, but as of now all i can do to annoying n00b marines is just put a waypoint on their head <!--emo&:angry:--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/mad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mad.gif'><!--endemo-->
If you had run a search before posting, you would've discovered that this has been discussed repeatedly before, <i>always</i> with the same outcome: No marine scores. Period. A poll a while back only verified that the majority prefers scoreless playing.
