Need some suggestions
Ok, here are a couple of screenshots from a little test room I made for a map I'm thinking of making. As some of you know, I've recently taken a break from mapping, but I want to get back into it, and I want to be pleased with what I am making.

I think I like the architecture in this room, but I'm not sure on the lighting. Perhaps it is too bland with not enough shadows? Perhaps its the wrong colour? I really don't know. Any suggestions as to waht is wrong and how to correct/improve it will be appreciated.

Note: The 'Thea' sign and the texture on the lights at the top will be changed (if any of you want to design a logo and a new skylight texture for me, that would also be really great ).

OK I love the wall architechture, maybe a bit of something like a vent2 texture ot something on the floor as close to the wall as possible? (Vent2 might look ugly though - something like a trim texture) Yes the lighting in there is god damn ugly! Completely wrong colour - and oh contact me via PM or E-Mail. I've downloaded loads of skymaps from the Forums that you might like.
[EDIT] On that second picture, where the wall is nearest the screen and on the center, the border bit which looks like the last 16 units, bring it out by 16x16 with that border edge all the way round. Would bring out some menaing to the area nad make it aestetically more pleasing [EDIT]

I commented about your light, reread your post, so now this is edited to say, I think your floors are too flat. Get some elevation in there. It doesn't have to be a major change (think south loop in eclipse) but it'd look and feel better.

i like it , although, maybe a few chain lights like at the top or something, sorta illumanating the middle a bit, so the rines are totaly screwed hehe.

kinda like
------------------------------
------------------------------
L L FL L
------------------------------
------------------------------<-- Hall

key: L = Light
FL = Flashing light
Hall = Hall

Pick a different texture for those yellow lights, that one's really

Yea, I need a new texture for that top light. I couldn't find one that looked good, and havent really got around to making one yet, so I juststuck anything on there that was sorta yellow.

Yeah, I agree with Cash Car Star - the floors just look too flat. That's basically the first thing that screamed out to me when the first picture finished loading.

Having a seethrough grate with something underneath (pipes, for example) seems to be a popular addition. It'll help break up the 'openness' of the floor, and will give the room a fuller appearance.

I'm with the guys on this. The floor needs breaking up. Some trim around the edges and prehaps a freestanding console in the middle of the room. A few dim blue lights (brightness 50) in front of those monitor screens would look good.

Right, taking into consideration most of the aove, I have re done the floor in this area, added an extra section and made the room a bit deeper. I also gave the lighting an overhaul.

The first picture is outstanding, personally when I first saw that first picture I though its gonna be a dull flat room with flat ceiling to go with it, its abosolutely fine now, the only problem I have is with the other corridors, too bright!
