<div class="IPBDescription">a map i've been working on for some time</div> ok. i've not shown this map to <i>anyone</i> on the board yet, except what's-his-face who's never on anymore.... anyway, he's not even seen the newer parts yet, so if he ever shows his face again he'll get something new as well. i've provided a zip file with 39 pics for your viewing pleaseure. ^_^ i've adjusted the brightness/contrast levels to what i think are close enough to in-game looks. it's a little less than 5 megs, and about 5 megs on disk when uncompressed. i will probably not be keeping it though, as there are parts with obscene r_speeds ( i won't even tell you, but let's say they exceed 1500-2000 in some places.. but that may be due to a problem with vis. i can't seem to do a normal vis, only fast) enough said. i will give you a link. the http button doesn't seem to be working, so here's the long link

    looks pretty good, but on pictures like 20063 and others the texturing for the walkway is a little off. but overall looks good. just a little dark.

    jeah thats how I want maps to be teased.
    Textures look really boring and sometimes overstreched.
    Lightning and Design looks monochome sometimes, but interestring.
    No place looks like it would have r_speed 600+ with a full vis.

    The geometry is good. A little "big" in places but overall I like it. The lighting is somewhat bland except ...48 and ...57. I really like those two pics. 1 thing to mention, your map seems like it follows two "environments", 1 being a spaceship and the other being an alien temple sort of style. Try to spice up the texturing a lot and add some color contrast.
    The map has potential.

    Well...hmmmm. <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo--> After looking through all the pics, I have to say that the map looks pretty dull. The grey textures (and all grate textured floors among others) will probably get boring after awhile. There seems to be very little "extras" thrown in around, just walls and pillars, which probably is linked to small areas, as mentioned later. A lot of the architecture also seems a bit unnatural */me hates ramps that just suspend at weird angles with no supports*. Another possible problem I could see is the crowding of areas. Defense in small areas = pretty hard once you get something that has splash damage. Some of those walkways and areas seem pretty small, and to get a whole marine team through might be pretty hard, nevermind an on <!--emo&::onos::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tiny.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tiny.gif'><!--endemo--> os. Lighting seems pretty cool however, and the hive areas look ok from what you can see of them... A good map looks to be there, it just needs quite a bit of tweaking. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Some of it gets boring, very nice lighting. Stick borders around windows pls. oh and by the way try and keep your map up to the standard of this area . ...

    I downloaded the file but can't find it on my HD, stupid me... anyway, in that pic... are they upside down res points on the cieling?

    yeah. that picture Revenant posted is the first part of the map i made, and i guess i kinda just went along and did stuff after that. I need to make a more concious effort to make stuff like that i guess. i map more or less for fun, and decided i should try and make something i can release. i might start over and go along the lines of that pic. i'll take your guys suggestions into mind when i start over. thanks.
