<div class="IPBDescription">how?</div> Before i start, lemme just say that I am utterly ashamed of having to ask a stupid question like this.

It's just that in all of the time that I've played HL or any mod of it I've wondered how to take a @#%$ing screen.....Could someone enlighten me? Do i have to bind it? If so, what Command is it?

Arghhhh.....hides in corner and prepares for the torrent of kicks... <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif'><!--endemo-->

    The default in NS is F5 I think.

    You can set it to what you want in controls setup by pressing Esc

    And they end up in your HL directory... I remember back in '98 I was trying frantically to paste what I thought was in the CLIPBOARD into paint... created about 150 megs worth of bmps inadvertently in Sierra/Half-Life.

    Atleast on my keyboard (check yours) there is a button which copys the screen where ever you are. It is the [Prt Scr/Sys Rq] next to the the scroll lock butten. (Top of Insert)...

    Yeah-the printscreen button.

    Its just that Ive TRIED to take screens in other mods by using that key, but it never worked. I just thought that it would be the same in NS as well. Apparently either Flayra rocks EVEN more that I thought for thinking of binding it FOR us, or it has been f5 for EVERYTHING else and I should be slapped for being so damn ignornt. Choose one <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    You feel like a noob?

    I was playing MoH one time and I just got a mic, so I was using RW, binded the "talk" key to the same key that took the SS in game... so everytime I tried to talk, I pressed the button, took a SS and I would lag. I thought it was my sound drivers that was messing me up because I thought talking in game was lagging me up.

    So one day, I took a couple SS and I went to retrieve them... I found about 2 gigs worth of screenshots... my friend promptly began laughing his @$$ off... =(

    bind "x" "screenshot

    this takes the screenshots in windows .bmp format

    bind "x" "snapshot"

    this takes screenshots in the .tga format...

    Happy trails! <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Or get <a href='http://www.hyperionics.com' target='_blank'>Hypersnap</a> and setup the PrintScreen key to take a screenshot of ANY game. Works great and you can pick the file format (jpg, bmp, tga, etc) in advance.

    Aight. Thanks everyone! I thought it would prolly be a bind that I'd have to do...

    I successfully took my first screen of a resource tower <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Again! Thanks!

    On a side note, is there anyway to compress a recorded NS demo into a less "massive" file. Like two minutes of recording is like 5mb. Imagine an hour or two game. <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif'><!--endemo-->

    HyperSnap? I dont like it. I prefer <a href='http://boumchalak.net/Tools/GCS/gcs.html' target='_blank'>GrabClipSave</a>. Tho I must admit I have no real need for either in the HL scene. The only time I use GCS is when Im playing one of my sims.

    GCS looks like a good, simple, free tool, but it definately doesn't have the versatility of Hypersnap. I use Hypersnap for lots of things (scanner captures, capturing windows or regions, simple image resizing/shrinking, etc). I have found it extremely useful...what didn't you like about it?

    The HyperSnap logo in my screenshots. That is the main reason why I dont like HS. Sure I could send them some $ and I wouldnt have to put up w/that but why should I when I can use GCS, which doesnt put a logo on your screenshots, for free?
