All of these pipe textures here look great! Very detailed. /me wants more
just wondering... what % of the community here skins and models? i'm a skinner myself and i'm lookin to expand from the CSS community since it basically died not too long ago... most of the vets left now there's no use hangin around it.
Welcome to the NS community! I like your textures and look forward to seeing more of them!
Like Ken said, don't worry too much. People here are pretty understanding. I wouldn't say language is a "big deal" as much as that we are just actively trying to make this a family mod, and we want the content of these forums to reflect that.
I appreciate your prompt and appropriate response. Thanks! KT
hmm, bigwillc you do have highlights that are a bit too strong, i advise you take a look at trunk's stuff as his pipes are quite well done. However, yours certainly isnt bad just tone it down a bit..pipes aren't usually shiny, dull seems to be the more common image. Rusty as well, rust is good, rust is your friedn, rust gives you tetanis and you die, rust....wait.... Gasfiend Just a bit rusty
Tiling that will give you square patterns of bullet holes. Perhaps you should move the bullet holes to random spots and make another texture that's just like that one without holes at all, so that one could be slipped into a tile of the non-holey one for effect/detail?
Moleculor, I think the bullet holes are the two spidery cracks slightly off center of the texture, not the four black circles.
Bigwillc, That texture looks great! There are a lot of things I could write up about what you did right, but if you don't mind, I'm going to subject you to a little criticism. Change the four black holes. The highlighting on is from a different angle on each one. Because they lack any gradient at all, they tend to tie the texture to being very 2d. And apparently, they are easily confused with bullet holes.
Maybe turn them into the hex-heads of bolts, or perhaps place something that would tile across the seam you have around the edges. Just some thoughts. Again, very nice work creating the image of a textured material. I can see that being the base for many good textures - as Moleculor suggested.
yes indeed great texture there, i was about to say something about the lighting but ken got to it first <!--emo&:p--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'><!--endemo-->
CSS isn't dead, the forums had a huge drop in members (if u hadn't noticed a lot of the more "skilled" people left) During the past week, there wasn't any new meshes, and barely any new skins/models. I'd say that CSS is goin downhill unless it gains some more members and people willing to learn and contribute.
I'm sure you dont remember me, but I used to skin and frequent the CSS forums alot. Was quite alont time ago though. I still have a few skins up there too. I dont skin anymore however. The last one I did was the Mossberg for VS and I tried sharing it with the other VS players. For some odd reason, they were very hostile towards it and thats when I decided that skinning just wasn't worth it anymore. I don't understand why, in my opinion, its was better then the original.
But I digress, nice to see you here and I'm sure we'll see some quality skins from you after the release of NS.
To get back on topic, very nice textures. Don't know what else to really say besides that.

In other words, either edit the words out of that image, or take it down.
