Question About Onos

<div class="IPBDescription">Paralysis specifically...</div> Question about the onos' second ability, paralysis.

How exactly does it affect a marine? What is the range of paralysis?

On several ocasions as onos, a marine would be a few (in-game) meters in front of me. I would select paralysis, put the crosshair over the marine, fire several times, and I couldn't notice any difference. He just kept shooting me. So how exactly does paralysis work? Are the marines still able to fire, just not move?

    Yup. They cannot move in 6 seconds, but they can still fire.

    I just can't help commenting on this. I think this is the most useless Onos ability. Seriously, why does a 10 ton tank need to "paralyze" marines when he just rams em down in 2 seconds? It would only be "fair" (if you can talk about "fairness" and "onos" in the same sentence) that the onos could do nothing about jetpacking marines or those poor little dots that run to vents and behind chairs for shelter <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->. The onos itself is already bit of a cherry on top of a creamcake, but paralyze... Geez! I never use it, I never see it being used and if the ultimate destroyer and God can't take down a jetpacker: How unfair. I already suggested this once, but I'll suggest it again: Here is a perfect weapon you can remove to get something else in it's place and thus avoid the 32-weapon limit for a while longer.

    Paralyze has done me well on a few occasions. Outside the marine start in ns_nothing. You know that res nozzle by their start. Marine kept shooting at me and when Id get close, he jump down over the railing and be below me, and if I went after him, hed run up and repeat. Because the railing was in the way, stopped me from just mowing him down.

    I think after he complained how I hacked and I think accused me of using gorge web as an Onos.

    The onos is pretty fast in a straight line, but moves god awefully slow while turning (as it should). As there aren't a lot of straight lines in the game, it's very easy for your quarry to get away from you. Add into the fact that they very well may have jetpacks and heavy machienguns by the time you have onos (if they have a good comm), and basically you've got some very nimble prey. Paralasis is instant firing and has (as far as I can tell) an unlimited range, so nothing can escape you. ever.

    If you don't slidestep when you turn, you can move around good.

    There is a range, like the parasite, though I don't know if they're the same range, but I think so.

    Paralyze has 1 use: hitting frantic marines with it and just standing infront of them chuckling. Its not like they are gonna hurt you (unless he has HMG or gren), so I just mess with them.

    If you use primal scream onos is fast enough to catch some marines, but if you lose one hive and cant use primal anymore then paralyze is actually pretty usefull

    You know what's even more fun than paralyzing a flying JetPacker and goring him to death??

    Yeah, the whole point of paralysis is to stop JPs being Onos-killers. It's a good thing that they're able to do this, the idea is that the Onos is a game-finisher.

    the description says they cant fire when paralysed.. but seems they still can.

    Its a REAL hugely enjoyable thing to parayise a marine who walks round the corner to shoot at you, then starts screaming as a slowly bite his head off =>

    My favourite is paralyzing ppl over the death pits like in docking wing (ns_nothing). Tis so much fun to get a jetpacker as they flew over the res point and they fell down the hole to their doom
