How to modify footstep sound volume?
The topic description has all there is to it . I hear combat sounds, evolve sounds, alien sounds etc. very well, but I hardly hear any footstep sounds. I can hear them barely in the readyroom, but in the game I hear none. How do I adjust the footstep sound volume so I could hear them behind corners and such? I haven't been able to find any console command and I mostly play in Linux servers. People in the game have told me that they hear them perfectly well. Any idea what's wrong?

Thank you in advance!

Perhaps your soundcard can only handle X amount of sounds at once, and those sounds are already taken up by the ambient sounds of the map? I dunno what to tell you other than that. Hope it helps.

There isn't a footstep volume control, because annoying people trying to get an unfair advantage would crank it up to max to track other players halfway across the map. All you need are a pair of headphones to use sound; I've been accused of wallhacking and been banned from CS servers just because I used my ears and sprayed a magazine of rifle ammo through a wall and happened to kill someone. If players could crank up the volume it would make it almost cheating, especially in small-team games. Imagine being able to hear every skulk coming, fifty feet away.

If you hear all other sounds just fine, then it's not a sound channel problem; if it was a sound channel problem then it would affect gunfire quite strongly, as well as making you only miss some footsteps instead of all.

Dunno what to tell ya; but there's no footstep volume variable.
