<div class="IPBDescription">Both open doors</div> I noticed recently that the skulks parasite and the gorgs spit activate door/elevator switches.

THe marine weapons dont seem to have any effect on said switches.

Was this intended or a mistake?

You can also knife switches to open them as well as using a welder on them.

I use them constantly, opening doors from all the way across the room is fun.

My favorite is on the.... *draws blank* (it has sewer, ventilation, and generator) nancy? Anyhow, from the marine base to the generator hive there is a set of airlock doors, both operated by switch, Having friends hide up in the ceiling and leading marines into it and closing the doors... =close range=death room for marines.

Sometimes on the server I play on we just see who can lead the best ambush <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

Actually, I saw some really funny stuff on ns_nancy. Basically, after heading down the ramp from the marine spawn, if you go straight, without taking the side doors, you come to a door which has a switch. You press it, and it opens and closes. Simple, right? Wrong. A Fade had just attacked our base, and was leaving, when some guy presses the switch to close the door. The door closes, and all I hear is *CRUNCH!* and then I see the death icon of the Fade that just got crushed. We managed to make 2 more Fade kills this way, but I was thinking...was this meant to happen?

I didn't know that gorge spit can activate buttons...
But I have always used parasite to fool marines by activating elevators, doors etc.
and when they check it out I can jump at their back and chew them <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

I know what your talking about, its right next to the first marine spawn outside the base. It happened to me the other day as a gorge, I thought it was totally lame, the doors crushed me!! <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

That's ns_caged, not nancy. Nancy has port engine room, subspace array interface, and nameless hive.

    *ahem*

    I think you'll find it's called "unnamed" <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

Comm's can also activate doors, elevators etc. All they need to do is click the button that triggers door, etc. Marines need to be near there though.

I call it unnamed, others say noname, I've never heard them call it 'nameless', and apparently it is "supposed" to be the "Mother Hive" which doesn't make much sense given that the "Mother Interface" is clear across the map near Subspace.

A while back when I was running around as a skulk on ns_nancy I got bored so I decided to try to crush myself in a door...and <b>voila</b>! I parasited it, ran thru as it closed, and I got the skull & crossbones <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> This is an EXCELLENT strategy to crush marines and aliens (just be on the opposite team and <i>ccrrrrrunncch</i>). And also -- I don't recommend this -- but if you have a really annoying teammate you could "accidentally" get him caught in the door <!--emo&::onos::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tiny.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tiny.gif'><!--endemo-->

neg, comms can open any doors and move any elevators on the map w/or w/o marines being near them

parasite is a great way to split a marine team in half! Lets take meel hall in ns_nancy for example. Have your normal skulk-ambush team hiding in various places close to the door but you sit way back in view of the door/hallway (preferably at the end of the mell hall table). Have the door be open so you can time it right. When a group of say, 4 marines come running down the hall, parasite the door switch so that it closes halfway between the marines (you have to compensate for the delay). If you do it right, 2 marines will be in the room and 2 will be in the hallway. So by the time the 2 in the hallway realize what happened, press the switch, and wait for the door to open, you've already shreaded their teammates to death! This is by no means easy to do but really satisfying when you pull it off.

It would be classy if when they redid the maps for 1.1 they called the nancy hive "No-name" i mean, actually make that it's proper name <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo--> Yeah parisites are great for doors, I use it on hera to open the gate near marine spawn. really freaks them out, meanwhile my housemates come through the vent and chomp on guys looking the wrong way <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
Some guy on the server the other day also said that gorge spit can open welded vents. never seen it myself, is there or has there ever been any truth in this?

Bast has the gorge spit-through-welds enabled.

I was playing on nancy once a week or two ago and going through a door as skulk and a skulk was behind me. He parasited the door and ran through but I had stopped just outside the door cause I think marines were down the hall. He got crushed cause I accidently blocked him from coming through. It was quite funny.
