Yes i do need an upgrade very badly, maps like hera or ns_caged i get about 15 fps after a few buildings are made.

Let me start by saying I did not choose this.

32 MBs
NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 Model 64/pro
Random Creative soundblaster job, about 3 bits by the sound of it
40xCD/DVD player (Sounds like WWIII when it gets going)

But I got an optical mouse not that long ago, so its a bit better now. I can play NS on this totally fine. As long as I stand facing the wall, not moving, well out of the way of any players, structures, hives or anything else that might cause my pc to have to think.

BAH. I'm in a bad mood again now.

- 20gb + 4gb hard drives

I built this a few years ago, mainly because I want to know what goes in my computer, and because I couldn't trust anyone in the city to do it properly. <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'>

Here's the major components that I've got my eye on for a replacement system within the next 3 months. The 650 will then be demoted to the role of a dedicated development server. <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'>

- Athlon 2.0ghz+ w/ ASUS A7V8X mboard (<i>yeah, I'm an AMD junkie</i> <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'>)
- 512mb/1024mb DDR400 (<i>depending on the cost of each when I buy it</i>)
- 80gb+ WD w/8mb (or something S/ATA, if it's available then)

I built mine, and the only satisfaction I got was two broken motherboards(BTW, you guys wouldn't happen to know how to fix an ASUS motherboard that powers down whenever you stand it up straight, would ya?)

Check for a loose piece of metal that's shorting the POS out.

I hear Asus is good, But I'm sold on shuttle.

It sort of does it itself; I mean, GeForce 4s give you decent FPS no matter what button you hit.

Yeah but is it consistent? If you like play on a 32 player server and see everybody in 1 room does your fps drop? I ask because HL takes more processing power then video card.
