Siege Line-of-sight

what counts as being in line of sight?
For instance this does not count as being in line-of-sight. No observatory had been built yet (only me and the comm guy on marine team)

And the siege had cleared the offense chambers in front of that defense chamber, but it wouldn't shoot the defense chamber.

Anyone else experience similiar problems? Or was siege range lowered way more then I thought.

(sorry about large size, no graphics program installed right now)

Oh... hmm. Do you have to be able to see the base of what you're spotting, or what? Because i've put structures in locations above sieges, which were high enough up that the thing just couldn't target them, even with a scanner sweep going.

I believe (haven't actually checked this, but heard it around quite a bit), that the base of the target has to be spotted.

I think it is the base, I crouched to take the screen. However I did try jumping all over, standing up, and etc. but no results, but I remembered not being able to see the base.

Its not a elevation issue in this case, because if you read the post it says it blew away some OCs in front of the DC, which would of been at a greater angle than the DC. But yes, sieges should only be able to fire within a 30 degree elevation. Although I've never checked this.

Besides, that DC is rediculously easy to take out with LMGs. I find it hard to understand how the marine team let a gorge up there build all that stuff anyhow.

That's an elevation issue. The siege can't track up more than 30 degrees, so it's not going to hit that tower It would *like* to, but it can't.

Oh yes it can, the problem here is that you dont crouch, and dont see it from the siege angle( ), you would really only see the "pads" on the DC, and that is not enough. Move back a bit and you would spot for it, and it would start shooting!
I've seen a siege closer to the vent than that shoot at chambers placed inside that vent.
