<div class="IPBDescription">'rines vent cheating and admins allow it</div> map was ns_bast. we had just gotten our second hive up @ engine room when it is bombarded by siege weapons. upon further inspection we find 3 in the vents nearby. even with fades, we could not do any damage to them because of the hitbox bug. there goes engine room. then they concentrate on feedwater until everyone has HAs and HMGs. the only reason they won that game was because of the hitbox bug. I told them to recycle the siege weapons because it was an exploit (cmon they had 3 invincible siege weapons in there.) but the comm just laughed at me. I got down his name and told everyone on the server i was going to tell the admins when they get here. turns out one was there.. and he didnt care. FYI HOMELAN server. i love that server.. but that really **** me off.
well anyway, i just started playing a week ago and i pretty much got the game down. its a lot more addictive then any game i've played but the only problem is it makes me dizzy sometimes. dunno why.. must be the colors.

So I don't really see how this is cheap or an exploit (and I say this as a person that plays aliens as much as I do marines).
You can always fade exploit :x
Nothing in this game is a "solution" to any other problem. I've seen brilliant strategies fail because six marines couldn't kill 1 skulk. I've seen stupid ones succeed because the team being played against wasn't quick enough to react or united enough to stop it.
And honestly, if these guys had 2 hives, going up against a siege base hidden in a vent... it's NOT THAT HARD to wipe one of those out. The marines are either crawling through vents to get there (making them good targets), or standing around in the siege base itself, meaning that you can spike away at them. If they're blocked up behind a siege tower welding it, just spray them with acid bombs... the siege will be fine but the splash will kill the guy inside.
The issue is not "it was impossible to kill them"... it was "we didn't react in an appropriate way to kill them." React differently. It's not an impossible situation.
u really think nanotechnology is restricted to 'just' the main areas?
logically its sound. so wats yr point?
Logic is a loose concept. You bring that up, and you can bring up wacky stuff like this.
They can camp in there as long as we have 3 hives, if they camp in there and their seige takes us down to 2 hives then we get screwed. Maybe the aliens need a spore type weapon with 2 hives to counteract this... ? (Pump spores up there, suffocate them and kill portals while they choke)
It's easier than saying "you can't build here" and certainly lends itself to some interesting strategies...
As for 2 hives versus a vent job, well... acid rockets have splash damage. It's sort of a poor man's grenade launcher, so feel free to use it.
Alternatively, why don't you cry me a river.
*I lost a game this way so it must have been a cheat* cheat
Might as well say: Ignore everything I just said.
A week isn't enough time to fully grasp the game unless thats 168 hours of game time.
Siege in vents makes for some surprising strategies, and that's what this game is about. It's not cheating because you couldn't use your Fade to kill the structure. Get a lerk! Use those incredible alien evolutions and abilities to not only overcome but to also conquer.
The hitboxes are a bug that will probably always be there, since it is a Half Life problem (though I think Valve fixed it for Counter Strike).
I tunnel cannot have one entrance you ****.
