How Do You Tell What Version Server Is Running?

<div class="IPBDescription">Instructions on how server version.</div> Is there a command that you can type in console to find out what version of NS is active?

Or perhaps a command to tell if its a linux server or not.

Have they fixed the motion tracking for the linux servers in 1.04?

most of the time the server name tells u if its 1.04 or not..

ASE does automatic updates for that sort of thing . . . . besides that 99.9% of dedicated servers have name that includes 1.0* as part of the title(with * replacing version #)

not exactly what you are after I know, but if you are in a server, hold tab to bring up the scoreboard, and if the server name is there at the top then it is 1.04

Alas not all server ops are vigilant enough to read the documentation for the ns server software and put version number in the name, or just don't give a hoot about it. Lots of servers where the name does not conatin version number. Now it'd be cool if you could SCAN a server to see what revision is used and have ASE, Gamespy etc. reflect this. I can't believe it STILL isn't possible.

In ASE, if you select a server and scroll down a bit, the version is shown under mp_version.

You can also use the HL browser to pull up a server's info, and it'll tell you the version.

Oh, my embarassment! But thank you for pointing that out. I've edited my ASE filters to sort away all non 1.04-servers now.
