Great Game

tell me yours
Well, I played this fantastic game last night, and I really couldnt help but telling you about it. Tell me yours.

Well, we started in computer core, and soon the marines were all over the place, a well secured base in both Eclipse Command and Maintenance Access. We were totally outgunned and quite desperate, untill a young Skulk, Mythril, stood up and shrieked "aAqwdacrrrfgg", or, in human, "Team up!". We had no ideas whatsoever, so we decided to listen to what he had to say. Anyway, we decided to attack their starting base, with all the power we got, and well, we ran for it, and while I took down the Turret Factory, the rest had a bite of the portals. The attack actually succeeded and the marine base was gone in a minute. We chuckled, and the game was over.

We were sucking. And I mean bad. We had started in vent hive(ns_nancy), and had, eventually, spread to sewer. Right after sewer went up(although after we got the MCs up), Vent turned out to be sieged. Everyone was freaking, and by the time I got there they had all attacked the TF, so it was pretty weak. I killed it, and started on the phase, but for some reason, none of my freinds came to help me. I died and they rebuilt the TF. At that point I decided to focus on Gen. They had a TF upn in there, but it was not well defended.
2 Suicide rushed later both the TF and the phase were down in Gen. And I decided to Gorge. In less than 20 seconds we had the second hive underway. At tha point I focused myself on reinforcing Gen. By the time Gen was done, I had built a suitable WOL system that completely blocked off Gen to the marines from their spawn side. I then went and webbed the Marine spawn. Then I got a connection problem.
I restarted the game, but was forced to go marine. I promptly ran into my own webs. After that, I decided to ask for a welder/JP combo, and got it. Going in by means of our vent mini-base I managed to get to the back of the Gen hive(the pipe room), becuase I had not placed any OCs defending that part. While another guy who had followed me built the phase, I welded the hive I had built to death !!!!
Needless to say, we managed to sweep throuhg Sewer and finally destroy the Aliens.

There's no Vent Hive on Nancy mate. Or Sewer Hive. I think you were on ns_caged. Sorry to be picky.

It was ns_nothing on a 1.04i-patched server..
I started off on the alien's side of the map, main hive was Cargo Bay, so I ventured out and found a couple of marines venturing towards our main-hive. I killed one off then found myself dead, they ended up walking into the hive and building a phase-gate. But, with the hive's 20 hp a sec. we quickly overwelmed them. Now, on the otherside of the map the marines have successfully captured Powersilo and began to move down towards Viaduct, we tried our best, but got overwelmed too easily and the marine's captured the Viaduct hive and (really) farmed out the hive with turret's. While everyone else was attacking the people in Viaduct, I evolved into Lerk, got regeneration and flew up towards Powersilo and perched myself uptop.. killing off the phase-gate and the two turret factorys. Had a Gorge come in and begin to build some defense and the hive, then moving down to Forebonding to build some buildings beneath the hive. Then, out of the clear blue marines started packing Heavy M-Gun's and Heavy Armor.. built a siege above Foreboding and destroyed the turrets blocking the elevator, then moved down to powersilo and took out our Powersilo hive, though after I finished off their undefended phase-gate we pushed them back and finished them off and rebuilt Powersilo. Then the marine's turned their attentions towards Cargo Bay and begin to rush and destroy our offensive chambers, but.. they forgot about Ventilation after a couple of Fade's and Lerk's took it out. Then the marines began to attack both hive's at the sametime, so a Gorge built ventilation up at the sametime.. Picking whatever hive, I went to defend Powersilo and with a couple of Fade's and my magical umbra we took care of them. But, when we went to Cargo Bay.. we all died, until about 4 people were left on our team (out of 15).. Seconds before the marines were about to take out the hive, 2 Onos's appeared out of the clear blue through the movement chambers and just simply demorilized them and they all turned and ran away.. we chased them and quickly finished them off. You can basically get what happens after this, we win. But, it changed my mind about Onos being too "whored" since how much we had to go through to just barely get three hives.

My other great-game. 1.03 Server, ns_eclipse

We started off badly, the marines had constantly kept rushing our main-hive until they had captured both hive's. After our entire team had succesfully cleared our the Maintenance hive, of course.. the marine's started packing HMG's and HA by the time our Fade's were close to battle-ready. A while later they had completely raped our maintenance hive (GL's, Siege's, HMG's) all just aimed at the hive.. like an overkill in 3 seconds. Then the marines moved down to the South Loop and started a new base there. But, I was thinking.. if all of the marines are in South Loop.. who's in their mainbase? So I stepped through the door to find the base deserted and the commander wasn't even in their mainbase chair. So after a few minutes of shouting and screaming after I died repeatively doing some good damage to the turret factory. Our entire team rushed through the door and finished off their mainbase. Hearing the nice, Heavily Armored and Heavily Gunned marines go.. huh, commander how come nobody's spawning? I guess the commander was too stupid to build more infantry portals in South Loop so we kept rushing and rushing and rushing until we had completely defeated them.. A lesson to learn, guard your base. >)

Best game ever was on a 1.0 server ( A little laggy but REALLY fun! ). It was eclipse, I was Aliens as usual, we had maintenance Hive. The Marines were really orginazed and took 2 Hives after just 5 or 6 minutes. 'We' went mad - 5 Gorge's spitting out WOL's everywhere, the Marines teched up too JP's and GL's ( Remember the GL's in 1.0? Scary... ), we decided to attack a Hive base, we did and we got it ( Don't ask me how, lol ), I told my team it was a waste of time to build the Hive since they had teched up too JP's and GL's/HMG's but they still built it. They didn't attack the computer core until the Hive got up - with 7 people with HA/HMG's/Welders! Can you imagine the sight of 7! SEVEN PEOPLE IN HA WITH HMG'S! They killed our Hive, killed all the Fades (Fades sucked in 1.0, remember?) And they won.

Best game ever! This happened 3 days ago.

Yesterday afternoon I played in a game where marines destroyed all hives (they were stomping our butts all game, they had HMG long before we had our second hive), and we were left with a pair of gorges and a regenerating lerk.

Gorges put hives up at the same time while the marines chase down the lerk, and all we poor skulk **** finally get to respawn. With the power of two hives, we manage a long but successful battle to win the game. ^_^

One of my most memorable wins was on ns_hera. As aliens we had done quite poorly and managed to lose Processing, hence losing both the Vent 3c hive and Data Core. Marines are starting to tech up and things are looking quite grim. I crawl up in a vent near data core and mention to the team that they dont have anything built inside the hive and ask if I should gorge up and try to build the hive. The team likes the idea, I put the hive up, and someone else volunteers to get over to vent hive and have a look. He finds the same situation and he gorges up there too. We instruct everyone on the team to NOT use any second hive abilities so as to not give the show away. Our team continues to skulk and only use one hive abilities to defend archiving and the vent 3c hive slowly goes up as well. Then we stealthily gestate to fades and lerks in the Data Core hive and rush Processing as a group and take it down in quick time. The marines didnt know what hit them. We went from one hive to three hives right under their noses. My thanks go to the comm for not paying much attention to the unoccupied hives.

I laughed at the game I had with Mythr1l where I found out someone else knows about the 'eatable grate' on Hera.

Marines never figure that one out. They're so dumb.

Had the best game I've ever played today, on Bast. This game was tooth and nail edgy all the way through; it was incredible. I too shall regail you...

8v8 server, so pretty balanced res wize, and we aliens started in Feedwater. First off we tried to secure Atmos proc, but our gorge got assassinated. Marines didn't take it though, they quickly phased to engine room and secured it with a tf, phase and 6 turrets. Given Engine Room's position we decided that reactor was the way to go.
With all it's res points though commanders love Reactor, and sure enough when we got there it was being taken. First base, with a phase and a tf, went down before any turrets went up. Someone gorged and started putting a res tower up in the courner when 7 marines poared through and a fericious battle resulted, which saw the gorge fleeing back into the tram tunnel and the marines put up a new base. The skulks with some lerk support from the rafters came back and managed to clear reactor again, and the gorge started building the hive. We decided to hang around in reactor when a lone marine started knifing the feed hive. That in itself wasn't too bad but then the marines took Atmos Proc and established a seige base outside feedwater.
Just as reactor finished building feed started getting hit. 2 aliens faded and I went lerk as support. The battle for feedwater was incredible, there were marines phasing in constantly and the gorge was fantically trying to get up movment chambers. All the while feed was being hammered by a seige and only through desperate def chamber building nearby did it stay up. We had "Our hive is dying" playing for around 5 minutes, all through the battle. 1 of the tfs dropped, then both the fades died to a hmger who then died from a long range lerker. We regrouped and 3 new fades assulted the base with umbra support, and finally the phase fell. There was a backup one at atmos proc however and the marines just kept on comming. After a half an hour battle the feedwater seige base was dead, but the battle wasn't anywhere near over. Just as the fades and lerks started moving on atmos proc, a lone jper came through and killed reactor hive. We were down to one hive and without umbra we couldn't advance on the well defended atmos proc. We regrouped whilst the gorge rebuilt reactor hive, but we were vunerable. Sure enough the marines pushed again, again for feedwater, and although we lost one of the 3 remaining fades, we held out long enough for reactor to be rebuilt.
Engine Room was now the new target and we moved through towards it. Myself as a lerk and a fade, with a gorge support, started hitting engine. At this point the has really started to make thier presense felt, the commander had gone for upgrades and jps over the ha but now he was trying to bust through with brute strength. It almost worked; if the base defender at engine hadn't gotten into the side vent we would have been in trouble. As it was I umbraed and bit through him with my fade ally.
Engine fell and the hive went up, just in time for an attack on feedwater. 2 marines with jps and hmgs managed to get past our defenses and take the hive, dying in the process, but hurting us again. Whilst feed was rebuilding engine came under seige fire from the marine spawn (hitting the defenses out front) and some has came through. As feedwater finished rebuilding, the seiges managed to clear a path and engine room hive fell to a welder assult. The final marine got one shot off that killed the hive just as I bit him
Myself and my fade ally now went up to the rotating door near marine spawn just as we came through the large trapdoor that leads into engine we found all 7 members of the marine team waiting on the other side. A furious battle resulted, with me umbraing everywhere whilst the marines frantically tried to kill the fade. The fade ended up killing 6 of the marines and I grabbed the last kill, and after this battle the marines decided to hit feedwater again. Before they could though we finally had all 3 hives.
I came up the vent to marine spawn (strangely they never welded it) and started gassing the spawn, but the marines were already pushing hard for feedwater. What resulted was a huge battle for atmospheric processing which saw 2 onoi fall and countless skulks. The marines through sheer concentrated firepower managed to push us back to just outside feedwater before we healed and hit back, driving them into the by now ruined atmospheric processing where the phase finally fell. The marines hadn't given up though. Despite our best efforts 2 jpers came to reactor and started hitting the hive. 2 of us got there just in time and nailed them before the hive died, which it was damn close to doing.
Finally the assult on the marine spawn began. Lerks from either side provided umbra support as well as gas, whilst fades on both sides too started raining bile bombs. We threw up ocs and dcs nearby, though not close enough to be hit by the siege that remained active at marine spawn. Even with our 3 hives it took onoi to break through, and eventually the tfs fell. One onos fell, but another took his place. The marines made a desperate counter attack at the very death, activating no less than 4 distress beacons when only their CC, observatory and ips were left. It wasn't enough though and although the second onos died the marines simply couldn't hold out any longer. The cc fell and the game ended.
Both sides gave wide and happy congratulations after the game in the ready room. Everyone agreed that it had been an incredible game and both sides were highly impressed with the other. I'd never played a game which saw so much shifting balance, so many times we were certain the marines were going to win. They also told us afterwards that they had felt the same way, but at the crucial moments had needed just a little more which they had been unable to provide. It had been such a close and tight fight, which could have gone either way. My love of NS just grows stronger
