<div class="IPBDescription">:(</div>To make a long story short..I've really liked this girl for some time now.  I wanted to tell her everytime i saw her that i really liked her but never got the courage to say it. But today i did..i walked up to her and started talking and then i asked her if she wanted to do something this weekend..she looked at my funny and said " Im sorry I only like you as a friend." I couldn't breathe or anything so i just said "Ok" and walked away.  Since that moment ive been in utter sadness

I'm sorry, man. I know how that feels..rather well..My first and second loves did that to me. But don't worry, don't let it get to you. You'll either move on and fall in love with another, or you'll end up hooking her by just being a good friend to her. <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo-->

Just be glad you can eek up the courage man. I know people who can't. And once you've done it once, it gets easier.

Yeah, it definitely sucks to have something like this happen.  I know what it's like firsthand, I actually had something similar happen, only worse because I was interrupted by a fire alarm.  Still, it's not the end of the world.  She does like you as a friend so you have that to go with.

Yeah man, and there are worse fates. A girl might seduce you and turn you into her love slave (oh wait, that happened to me). Come to think of it, it was kinda fun in retrospect . . . but yeah, everyone gets rejected from time to time. You'll find someone else. Right now, I have but one mistress : NS.

    OOO! OOO!

    My turn.

I asked this girl if she wanted to go to the movies.  You know, just go and see a movie, not by myself because that is boring, but with someone else (all of my friends were busy that weekend).  So, well, i spend 2 days psyching myself up to ask her.  She gives me this "well, i'll have to see" reply.

My heart is going around 250 beats per minute and i feel like i've been hit on the head with a Lv. 5 sized hammer, so i say okay.

When i get home, i give her a call (even harder to get the nerve for), and she flat out tells me let's be friends.

I'm like, "Oh, okay, that's cool."  Then, after hanging up, i realize that i didn't want to take her on a date, just go to a movie.  Did I screw up or something?  Oh well.

Ooo.  Last semester, i asked this girl if she wanted to go to lunch.  She said "not today, but i probably can tomorrow."  I was really excited.  I actually got someone to say yes.  Then i crashed my car on the way home from school.  no car, no lunch, no girl on lunchdate.

i think the "Lets be friends" excuse is just another way of her saying flat out "NO!"  <!--emo&???--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'><!--endemo-->

Wait a second.  Alright, I've come accross some information that most people don't know, but girls often keep a very large distinction between 'friends' and 'people they will go out with'.  Don't ask me why, but for some reason they do.  If they flirt with you alot, chances are you're in the category of 'people they will go out with' but if you are just really good friends, then she may not like like you.  I personally think it sucks, because I think most guys probably start to like girls that they have as friends, and alot of them will think of you as 'just friends'.

would you rather her say "NO!"?

She said it that way because she <b>is</b> your friend.  Theres nothing wrong with someone if the other person wants to be friends.  Maybe she just doesn't want to get involved with someone right now.

Just try to take it with a grain of salt.  However, perhaps I'm the wrong person to be giving suggestions.  You have much more courage then I do.  However, don't try to keep your feelings to your self because of it.  I can't tell you how often I think about what 'could have been' if I had just took a chance.  I try not to dwell on the past either, but when your life is such as mine, its quite difficult.

Just keep being friends with her.  Show her that you wouldn't let your feelings for her get in the way of your friendship.  Maybe then she'll see how much you care for her, and when she's ready she will probably like you too.  Try joking around with her more often and maybe possibly flirting with her.  I'm sure she'll like you, but right now you are just friends.

well there was this time at my school's graduation when my friend sitting next to me told me to ask this girl sitting on my other side out for him. so i did. she said no. so i asked her if she'd go out with this other guy in our class, she said no, so i asked if she'd go out with this  <b>other</b> guy in our class.

slowly i worked my way through the entire class including the girls and her. then ending with me. <!--emo&:p--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'><!--endemo-->

funny thing was she said no every time.

but it was ok because later that night i discovered that she had a hairy back <!--emo&:0--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':0'><!--endemo-->  nasty

The best relationship I've ever been in was with my best friend of 3 years.  It just makes sense... you already *know* you get along well.

Devil's advocate: in high school, my best friend (different girl) and I tried dating not once, but twice.  The first time lasted a month; the second, just three days!  We just realized we made better friends.  (:

Heh... Funny story, Mouse. I don't date much. Despite the fact that I'm 14, I've only been out with 3 people... Mainly because all of the girls I know are brainless flakes (overexageration, but damn close). I also find that, as soon as you're taken, all of 'em start flirting with you... And that's just annoying. So, I've really never had a problem with that... I just wait for things to 'click' so to speak. Despite this, I've started quite a few relationships between other people. It's fun.

til u found out about the hairy back hahahaha! Hehehe! eeeh!

I really like my friend (the cat).
She doesn't fear toutching me. Does that mean i have a chance or that she's a slut? haha!

This whole thing with girls saying 'Lets be friends' when you ask them to go somewhere really doesnt make any sense.  I go to the moives with my frineds, I go to lunch with my friends, I do things with my friends.  I just cant stand it when you say to a girl "Hey wanna go see Saving Private Ryan this weekend?" and the reply is "I only like you as a friend."  ?!?!?!?!?!111111  I didn't ask you if you liked me as a firend I asked you if you want to go out to the movies...

Women.. pfffft -- and then there are these <i>magical</i> signals that we have to somehow pickup.. I will just stop now before I get all worked up.

I had to deal with one that rejected me and actually expected me to come running back. She needed a lapdog, but I wasn't really up for that. And when something goes wrong in a relationship, expect them to blame you for everything... they see it as normal, because that's the way their world is. If you've ever tried to notice the complex "friendship" hierarchy women have, you'll understand why they seem to be able to weave us around their fingers so easily.... they have much more practice :/

Doc: Maybe it's because she's a cat and cats like sleeping near their owners to keep warm? either that, or the rest of your family refused to let her in their beds.

Well then Acidfire.  Just stick with being friends with her.  Don't get all ###### off because she won't 'go out with you.'  Just become better friends, and hopefully something will progress from there.

I had the misfortune of being asked out by a <i>guy</i>... *that* was not a good experience at all. Actually, I'd be perfectly happy if that never happened again. ever.

I never thought I'd be on the telling end of the "let's just be friends" thing.

oh my, drunken that sure isn't something that happens every day.  As for my romance life, it was a summer thing, I asked her out, she said yes, I left when summer was over, we never saw/heard from each other ever again.  That's pretty much it.

my 2 of my 3 best friends are girls (though I'm losing one of them now)  I went out with both of them and after me and and the second one I went out with broke up with me she said lets still be friends and still go to prom togather and stuff (after she dumped me)  now she tells me I'm still her best friend on phone and online but treats me like garbage and avoids me (at one point we didn't hang out for over a month)  and I still lover her but I'm about ready to tell her I don't need her abuse and cut my ties with her, although the first one I went out with treated me horribly as a boyfriend (she was very avoiding to) and I broke up with her and now were still best friends so thats good, I guess it can work either way

I had to tell off an abusive girl once, Bacon... it sucks, but you have to look out for yourself first.  I've never been asked out by a guy, but I have been propositioned for sex.  I told him flat-out no, and when he kept pestering me I told him to either drop it or not talk to me anymore.  Um, we don't talk anymore - I guess he was just interested in me for my body.  ^^
