<div class="IPBDescription">prblems problems ...</div> I like the half-life mod ns very much and I don't want to give it up because of a constantly repeating bug. my problem is the following: I launch ns normally, join a server and play. when I want to change the server I m playing on or when a game is restarting or when I want to leave the game, a sound of the same kind than a railgun appears, and my computer restarts completly! I formattted my computer 2 times and reinstalled ns but the problem stays. so I would be very pleased if anybody could give me the solution to my problem.

could be acpi going belly up with your soundcard or any number of things, if your running 2kpro/xp right click my computer/properties/advanced startup and recovery and uncheck the box to automatically reboot on errors. check your error logs to see what's going on too please.

I disabled restarting on errors and ran the game once more. I played a bit but my ping was to high and I wanted to try an other server. as I did so, instead of restarting, a blue sreen appeared and said:

    "Stop:0X000000BE (0XF81F9532, 0X8053BC40, 0X0000000A)

    cmaudio.sys - Adress F81FC8D1 base at F81C8000, DateStamp 3bde96ac"

audio is showing on a problem with a sound card, isn't it? of course I had to restart my comuter aferwards.

thanks for helping, I think we are one step further.

right, time to re-install your sound card drivers/try a different version, make sure you have eax/a3d support disabled, you can disable them in the gui or in console with s_eax 0 and s_a3d 0 but you have to exit the game and start up again for the changes to take effect. Try disabling hardware acceleration for your sound card in the control panel or just lowering down the acceleration a notch or two. Still no go? Try the same by running > dxdiag > test your sound and see if you get any errors. Does dxdiag report any errors for the sound card in there/display anything about a saved txt file? Also try cl_hisound 0 in console.

I'm not sure as to the exact error but I've had acpi cause me so much grief I'd give a re-format with it disabled in bios for a start. when windows installs and prompts you to press f8 to install 3rd party scsi/raid drivers do so and install as a standard pc if all else fails, this is probably your best bet.

Please post back and let us know if/how you got it sorted! thanks
