2-3 Shots And Dead

<div class="IPBDescription">WHY oh God why???</div> It seems like sometimes someone will get in the server that is just a God. Start of game, no upgrades, and yet a marine can walk around pump 2-3 bullets from the machine gun in a skulk and your dead.

Now I am not saying people are hacking, but I went with some people and we tested this, no matter what direction I shot from, or no matter where I shot the skulk I had to put at least 10 shots in him. So what I want to know is are these people doing something I do not know about. Is there a secret shot we should all be aiming for, or are these people just hacking.

Its always the same people too, we could have the best of the best in the server playing, then one guy gets on and takes out all the aliens with half a clip.

AIM bot? (are there any that work with NS)

Or just all skill (and if so HOW)

    Happens to me too ocasionally. Maybe it could be lag or maybe more marines firing at you at the same time,

    You cant change the damage from weapons you do as its controlled server side.

    Any skulk without cara stand no chance at all. even if 4 skulks rush you, you can drop them =\

    No, I have had this happen with lmg. I have also seen where a skulk takes almosta full clip, point balnk and lives. Can't figure that one out either. t first I thought I just missed, but it has happened too many times for me to believe that I'm that bad. Especially point blank, and when I can take down a running skulk now.

    with enough lag, <b>ANYTHING</b> is possible. if there is a micro-lagspike, the server doesn't realize any bullets are fired, then suddenly the marine's client tells the server "WTF? I've fired 20 bullets already! register!" and the server responds by killing the skulk in one fell swoop.

    Yes, lag. You know. Choose the most probable of the available answers. Since 3 bullets do not kill a skulk, the obvious answer is that you were hit with more than 3 bullets.

    ackz - the player that can consistently drop 4 skulks before he or she gets bitten twice is rare indeed.

    Its not very rare that, i have that much.
    It happens that when you are sitting on distance and the <!--emo&::skulk::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/skulk.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='skulk.gif'><!--endemo--> are rushing you can take em out all.
    Just dont start emptying youre clip in 3 seconds. Try to be smart and shoot when u aim on the skulk. I am even sure that i got more then 4 yet.

    Its relatively straightforward to take down 4 non carapaced skulks, assuming of course they dont attack from all directions all at once :E.

    The person killing all these skulks would presumably be the burst-fire master, right?

    He must be, because the most I've ever seen at once in 3 skulks, and this guy was just camping in a corner.

    There's a guy on the Blueyonder servers that can drop any skulk by merely blinking at them. He's the master of shooting. Sometimes folks just have SKILLZ! And my only feeble defense is "I got a REAL life so I cant sit around practicing marksmanship skill all day". Well, pathetic excuse. He's just better. It's amazing how many skulks he manage to kill on a rambo trek to a hive. And frankly, I've had my super streaks of mad killah powah, but they're rare.

    So I still chose to believe it. Skulks are brittle little things if caught at range.

    It depends on how you tend to shoot . Short bursts are very accurate and kill skulks fast , but if you keep shooting , you can be sure that out of 40 bullets that you shoot at the skulk , less than 10 hit it .

    I sometimes don't know why it would be lag. I've been in servers where the super marine has like 30-40 ping, and I have 90-110, yet it still appears I died in 3 bullets.

    However, sometimes it's obvious it's lag when the person has 150+ ping. But seriously, good marines are so hard to kill. Even when you ambush them, they can survive. One game, our WHOLE alien team got destroyed by ONE single marine. He practically never missed a bullet, and he clicked his pistol uber fast, and jumped around sooooo damn frantically that we kept on losing him even when we could get close.

    I think a really good marine really outshines an equally good skulk, in ANY situation <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

    While uber-leet gods of death and destruction type players do exist I think it is far more likely that a person will run into....
    A) lag
    B) some kind of glitch/bug
    C) cheaters

    Well, the thing is good players choose their fights and get good ground. A good skulk doesn't just charge in, he waits for the right moment...

    I just wish they'd increase the range of the parasite...

    Marine > Uncarapaced skulk
    Marine's > Uncarapaced skulk's
    Carapaced Skulk > Marine Short Range = Marine Medium Range
    Carapaced Skulk's > Marine's any situation

    This is assuming high skill level of both sides, obviously if your not a a great player then you wont do as well.

    You can argue marine upgrades but they are not usualy a significant factor before aliens get fades.

    every one else's gun sounds like it is slowly shooting, but instead its fired off alot of rounds.. go stand next to a marine teammate and listen some time.

    If the Skulks are uncarapaced, and you hit with every shot, you can drop seven with one LMG and one pistol clip before needing to reload or pull out the knife. My personal best is six while defending an empty hive, though thankfully for me all six didn't come in at once, I had a second or two between each pair and managed to reload my pistol once.

    Me: "Hey commander, Archiving's empty."
    Comm: "Great. Hold it for me, would you?"
    Me: "Uh, okay. Say, um, comm, I can hear a whole lot of Skulks outside."
    Comm: "Don't have any resources to put anything down. Here, have a medpack."
    Me: "Oh, that's great. I can throw it at the Skulks."

    Surprisingly, I actually did manage to hold the hive until reinforcements arrived. I was next to dead with almost no ammo left, but we got it, and went on to win that round.

    on the issue of lag i had this one time where i walked up to this evolving alien skulk, and unloaded an entire lmg clip into it, it didnt die. so i pulled my pistol and whacked it 3 times before it finished evolving and ate me. from what i know an un upgraded marine takes 7 shots to kill a skulk since each bullet should do about 10 damage. +1 for each upgrade.

    I was always under the impression that eggs have a set hp? It usually takes either 2 full lmg clips or a lmg + pistol clip for me to kill one at medium range (no way am I getting too close!). Then again, if the egg finishes evolving the next few bullets finishes him off so maybe I'm wrong about eggs having their own hp.

    Not really. Though I always play aliens when I can because I love the fast paced, ambushy sneaky playing style, I make a pretty uber marine too. I mean, 10 bullets to kill an uncarapaced skulk when you have 50? I can kill them even if they ambush me, and vice versa. I've been killed by marines caught by total surprize just because they could jump 2 of my attacks <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Eggs have the same amount of health/armor as a Fade. You're much better off knifing it.

    Newbie gorges should commit this to memory.

    Get those d-chambers up early, you'll nearly double the effectiveness of your skulks.

    Also, a skulk rush is wastefull against any half-skilled marine team.

    Uncarapaced skulks are very easy to kill. Its fun just camping in the hive and killing the uncarapaced skulks as they spawn.

    yep. totally true.

    and back on the lag issue, it doesn't matter about your ping. all it takes is a tiny server hiccup to give this effect. i've seen it happen enough to be pretty sure.

    Then again, i've recently heard something about your FPS affecting things like how much jetpack usage you get, your gun's RATE OF FIRE, and other scary stuff....

    well... im not a GREAT shot.... but i dont see what you guys are talking about? i can take out 2 skulks with 1 lmg clip and half a pistol clip... same goes with fades.... and that's with a 200+ ping....
