>>>>BTW>>>> in the sprites folder, there was a lso a needle symbol. does this mean there will be a medic option soon??? will we be able to heal other marines as if we were gorgs???

Ive seen the "nuke" word quite a few times when browsing through the misc NS files.
Perhaps it was a "borked" weapon for the first release.
I have never seen it in any NS matche before.

Still.. it's interesting.
Would be fun to be able to set up a nuke next to a hive and BOOM!

No need to make a TF and seige the hive, and it gives the marines a fighting chance if they ever go up against 3 hives!

There was a nuke before when it was being playtested but was removed because the marine teams would just sit around and save up for a nuke.

voogru mostly doing good stuff.
Seen many admins with worse admin abuse and less good ideas.
"Boondock Marines" is a good funny song.

I've never heard the word "Bork" before. Lord knows google didn't have anything to offer (Unless you're referring to Dr. Alfred Bork, Professor Emeritus? ). What's a bork?

Voogru's "nuke" is a way for admins to end a game in a "tie" (there is a white-out that prevents people from seeing the "Team X won!" text).

The real nuke, the gameplay element, was taken out because it could not be fairly balanced - marines would turtle in their base until they could afford 5-10 nukes, then nuke every active hive into oblivion. Even though nukes could be destroyed, 3 nukes in one hive room were too much to take out and more than enough to kill the hive.

Nukes may be revisited, and may return in an altered form in a future release. One idea is rather like the C4 in CS - carried by a player (probably as a primary weapon), armable with a welder, something like that.

As for the hypodermic needle - stimpacks were also tried in playtest. However, they were a 1-time research, always in effect with no negative side effect (unlike the Starcraft variation). The effect was an increase in movement speed; unfortunately, it kicked up movement speed too much for balance and was removed. Maybe it'll come back; I wouldn't mind it as a slot-3 option - use for a temporary speed burst at the expense of 10 health or so.

thanx coil 4 answering meh Question.
maybe they cud make the nuke a sevrer side option???
server operators could enable the use of nuke, syringes.... etc

More than unlikely.
It's already difficult enough to balance the game without of adding server-side options that affect gameplay that drastically.

I suggest you simply wait for future releases.

Correct.

Also, its meant as a "timelimit" for a round in some cases (which a vote is ALWAYS done before a nuke is placed in the map)

Finishing the round 3 seconds before the nuke with a 45 min fuse goes off is quite fun IMHO.

As long as you're reading this thread, voogru, here's why your no-f4 rule is TEH DEBBIL. I joined a game, randomed to aliens. Checked the hive listing - 1 hive, sewer. Had both defense and movement upgrades available. Marine spawn had been eaten and they'd moved to vent. At least 2 siege cannons at each of their hives, so gorge rushes were not really a possibility. But, we organized! We did several full-team skulkrushes! We ate a factory! We ate two! We ate a phase. BUT WAIT, they had a SECOND PHASE. They killed the last skulk or so and rebuilt, this time with THREE factories and several hundred hectares of turret farms.

They never, not %$#^@#%in' ONCE attacked our actual hive. The HA and JPers just wandered around welding factories and farming turrets. At that point, you really need to be able to go to the readyroom.

No readyroom if the game been goin on for 5 mins. Prevents the game from ending too soon
