We've been testing a server for the past several days; this jerk logs in and plays fair for a while as a skulk, then asks me if he can use the alien-to-marine exploit. The idiot actually asked permission to cheat!

I am very firm about how our server frowns on exploits, but he decides to use it anyways, killing several people. When I tell him off, he then insults us all and bails.

Don't worry i get lots of this crap on my servers as well!! All i do is warn them then ban them =D

Not at all. I would say you are not harsh enough. Could someone create a modified version of admin_ban that performs the following:

- Bans the player on the server.
- Finds the player and slaps him/her several times a day at random times.
- Sterilizes the player and his/her entire family, thus culling the lamer gene from the population?

admin_execclient Gimp unbindall

I'm a big fan of the "unbindall" punishment right before banning for the heinous offenders. The alien-marine exploiters fall into this category for me. Posting for banning here is getting really annoying. Not that I don't punish cheaters - I just don't like it when people keep spamming "BAN HIM! BAN HHIM!! BAAAAN!!!!11" over and over and over again.

If you really want to help keeping lamers off our servers, I suggest you join NSAF (www.nsadmins.org).

banning is fine but dont start exploiting client side commands. i was on a cs server a while back, some wierd version admin mod "dectected" a cheat on my comp and erased most of my stuff on my hard drive. i didnt have any cheats on my comp, but even if i did that was a terrible thing to do.

Clearly if there's obvious hax/exploits (aliens turning marines is the most simple and easy to spot example) then why not unbindall? I certainly wouldn't go about wiping anyone's HD, I find unbinding all their keys and leaving them connected for a minute before banning them is quite sufficient.
A simpler version of course is to admin_execclient Gimp bind MOUSE1 "say I am a cheating lemming"
That's a classic <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'>

Oooh come to think of it, how about binding everyone's F4 key to say "I tried to F4 out because I'm a lame a$$ pu$$y who quits instead of plays" .... /hmmmz gets Roo thinking....

There really is no need to do that tbh. Messing with someone’s config even if they have abused your server rules just makes you look immature and just as bad as they are.

Actually, to be perfectly honest(tbph?), I used that exploit myself in ready room, just for fun... until I understood it crashed the server...(I did use it non ready room a few times, but only for testing how it was/looked)
Just today I joined a server where this guy was doing it in readyroom(aliens were laming in a vent, one of the guys I know :/), and he wouldn't stop until I told him it crashes the server at mapchange. He said that he didn't know that, and promptly stopped... not everyone is a bad guy if they use such a WEIRD exploit...
EDIT: oh and by teh way, how come the alien-marine is so bloody fast? Does the skulk speed get added to the marine speed??

its not harsh to ban them right away though <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'>. It may seem like but, its your server with your rules...and more. I usually just gave them a change to stop, or i used admin_llama on them, etc sort of things. ;o . Actually i'm very pleased because i havent seen anyone using this bug in days.
