Sleeping in a Bed will save the game (Hardcore mode)

I suggest for both Subnautica and Below Zero, that sleeping in a 'bed' is required to save the game rather than simply quitting the game. (Or maybe have both)

I played hardcore for a while and it was a ton of fun, until I binge played the game for a couple hours straight and the game crashed and I lost all that progress.

You already have a sleep function available in the game.

An even more ambitious idea is to have an actual sleep stamina in the game as part of the survival mechanic. Like, without sleep you start to hallucinate and/or passout.

Beds aren't available for quite a while, depending on the player's exploration. I would instead recommend ability to auto-save (toggle on/off at player choice), or allow manual save on hardcore, with reminder that it will save on exit.
