I think it would be nice to have your base actually be destroyed if you don’t repair it before it’s heath reaches a critical level (like the cyclops). Yes, it would be annoying at times, but you could be able to repair it using the habitat builder tool.

    As for Subnautica, I think they've closed further developments on that now. However, I saw some info on this subject leaking out of the Below Zero trello. If you don't mind extreme spoilers:

    Looks like Arctic base destruction is likely, but it's unclear if it's only a scripted event and/or a regular play-mechanic. But it also seems the your base has a Control Room that monitors each compartment's integrity, so hopefully it includes the latter.
    I've got my objections to the World, certainly. But I'll be very sorry to see it ruined.

    In Subnautica, the devs like to go for realism (most of the time) but if this happened, I would stock up on lithium make as many reinforcements as possible.
