Game files do not match the servers

I cant join any servers for the last week or so, I always get the error message: 'Game files do not match the servers'.

I've tried verifying the game files through steam, I've tried completely removing the game, removing the folder '/home/user/.config/Natural Selection 2', and then redownloading the game (as per this post).

I'm using Ubuntu 18.04.

    You have some mods enabled that are throwing errors. Try deleting your workshop folder. Not sure the repairgame.exe works in linux....

    Those mods came from that server, that doesn't happen everytime, it depends on the sever I join.

    Plus I'm pretty sure the workshop folder would exist either in the install folder or the .config folder, which gets deleted. I'm also not subscribed to any mods in the workshop.

    There's no way any server has my fixed time step hack mod. It's been removed from the workshop. The only way you could have that enabled is if it's cached in your workshop folder.

    Ah yes you were right sorry!

    There is a workshop folder inside the steam-> steamapps folder, but outside the NS2 folder, deleting that fixed my problem.

    It didn't show up in my workshop list of subscribed items, and I don't even remember downloading it, it must have been so long ago.
