Communication

How to comunicate to each other.
Hi. This is my first post here. I discovered your mod a long time ago, and I though it was one of those "need help with blabla, beta tomorrow, soon finished" -mod . No hard feelings. When I saw what you had acomplished I was surprised. You really mean to create this mod, and you would most unlikely put it down after you have come this far. I was just wondering, how would you be able to communicate? It will be hard to type things like "first go right left, down up etc". I think the best way to communicate would be trough things like Roger Wilco or something. Are you going to support this? Thank You for reading.

Hey Bux, my clan and I always exclusively use chat programs like Roger Wilco whenever we play games such as CS or DoD, and since NS is also a Half-Life mod, I don't expect that using RW with it won't be too much of a problem. Also, the commander has some ability to coordinate his troops, and therefore communication between players isn't as significant as without the commander. Players could decide to rely on the commander for waypoints, orders, etc. But of course that could all go downhill if the commander sucks. I am not sure as to whether HL's Voice-Com system will be incorporated, but it would act as a kind of safety net for voice communications if it were.

There is a pie menu type thingy that you can (easily) access at any time that will give you the option to say various things to help you along. That, and valve's voice communication thingy is in there too, as you can see from some of the screenshots.

But it actually sounds like you're wondering about the commander giving orders to his marines... in that case, there is a nice waypoint system.

Not that everyone will use every method, but they are there nonetheless. If people take advantage of the various features, communication will not be a problem at all.

Okay. But I still think it would be better if they at least "inplanted" a voice-communicator for those who wants to use it.

What do you mean? There is one built into the game... Like I said, valve's voice communication thingy... not a third party program like RogerWilco. If you have the latest version of halflife... you can use it. Assuming you have a mic. All you have to do is press a button on your keyboard and talk. Everyone and anyone can use it.

And then there's always the text chat for those commanders who are un-l33t and don't have a mic.
