In my honest opinion, the dead zone/void is the creepiest, most unnerving area on the map. Just knowing how deep and open it is, along with the ghost leviathans out there, make it a very unsettling place. I don't suffer from thalassaphobia, but I probably couldn't stay out there very long w/o getting too creeped out. That and getting killed by said leviathans ;)

The bottomless pit of sea serpents. Very unpleasant...

Now someone build a base there.

I have to admit myself that i'm scared of unfamiliar game breaks such as going off the edge of the map into a similar void. :s

I accidentally ended up just over the edge of the Void yesterday, when I was following a sort of fissure down with my seamoth. I realised what I was stumbling into just as a leviathan's silhouette came looming out of the darkness and almost caught up to me. @Peeper4546B summed up my feelings on it perfectly. For all I know, there might be something even larger and more terrible out there that preys on the ghost leviathans in turn!

I managed to scan one in the grand reef later and slightly warmed up to them when the entry said the adults feed on the abundance of microscopic organisms in the Void and their ferocity is more to defend their feeding grounds than anything else. Still, I got the message...I won't go back there if I can avoid it.

I wish the devs had added a gargantuan sized creature out in the Void to act as a deterrent instead of ghost leviathans. Ghost leviathans are cool and all, but we've seen them before. It'd be awesome and terrifying if the devs had instead added a brand new creature we've never seen before to be the Void guardian. Imagine seeing what the giant fossil in the lost river would've looked like if it was alive; and what you see in the lost river is just a part of the creature. Having something like that in the Void would be far more terrifying that ghost leviathans. With the Void being 3000 meters deep, there should be plenty of room for the thing to move around.

The ghost leviathans spamming the area in the void just seems a bit.. cheap. They look really out of place anywhere near the surface.

about 1500 meters ish from the base turning over the desert sea area and about 3000 meters downwards you will find a type 3 sea serpent who doesnt know what he's doing there at all.

thikning. why are they outside the map ? ? ?

The in game reason is that Ghost Leviathans need to eat ridiculous amounts of microorganisms each day (Which are abundant in the Void) and they're very territorial over their feeding grounds. They'll attack anything that they see as a potential competitor for their food source (You).

Except the Seamoth crush depth is 900m so not sure how you got down that deep.

The Dead Zone is such a nerve racking, unsettling, lonely and a very uncomfortable place. :/

Entered it one time since I started playing using a seamoth, super creepy. Couldn't go past 900 meters but that wide open void gives you the chills.

ive been there myself in the seamoth but im going to go back to the edge with a cyclops loaded with the PRAWN suit and jump it off the edge and see if theres anything down there like more land mass and to see just how long i will fall before im forced to respawn i will then post my results id like to hear peoples thoughts on this matter

Hummm. It is a shame how loads of ghost leviathans just start spawning when you get into the end-zone.

I've been down below 3000m, quite a bit farther actually but I forget how far I went. Even with a rebreather, and using vehicles to go as far as you can before switching to seaglide, there's just nothing there so it's rather pointless except to be able to say you did it.

well i did it i made it to just over 8000 meters down before i was forcibly respawned back at my lifepod in my prawn suit i forgot to take a screen shot but ill do it again and get a screen shot this time
