How To Adjust Ambient Noices' Volume Level?

-CPU speed and make: Intel Pentium 3, 733 MHz

-Sound and graphics card makers and memory: Terratec DMX Xfire 1024, Asus GeForce 2MX, 32 MB

- Operating system: Windows 2000 (Service Pack 3)

- Graphics mode and resolution you're running in (OpenGL or D3D): OpenGL, 1024x768

- Whether or not you're running EAX. (Don't run EAX.): Running A3D

So, all the hive, ventilation etc ambient/background noices/voices keep playing VERY loud. I've tried all the MP3Volume, BGMVolume, cl_musicvolume, volume commands and none of them is affecting the background noices.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think you're looking for the "suitvolume" command.

I also have this problem. the 'volume' command seems to affect the jumping and shooting sounds but not the ambience. It wouldnt be because some of the ambience is either a very long sound file or looped would it?

I'm thinking if a sound is played at volume 0.8, then you change volume to 0.2 and that sound is still playing, it wouldn't get quieter would it?

Nero's WaveEditor (comes with Nero Burning ROM) lets you decrease the volume of mp3s. Find the one you want and try it (there's a menu option that lets you decrease the volume).

yeh, if u cant adjust volume in game, just use windows sound editor and decrease the volume on all the sounds (found in: ns/sounds/)

this is what i had to do

I was just checking "Half-life Console Commands.txt" .. I found out two interesting commands..

    ambient_fade
    ambient_level

I cant test it now 'cause im running a server. I hope that these would do something.. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
