Does anyone ever use light air tanks?

It just feels to me that reinforced tanks are better in every way. Get more air per space, and if you need to zip around you just use the seaglide. Though by the later part of the game I only use one tank anyway. Unless I'm exploring a wreck.
The same with the charging fins. Why would I want to charge me easily replaceable and chargeable battery instead of going faster, which can save air and my butt from monster attacks.

The charge fins work while using the Seaglide, giving you unlimited range while they're equipped, and the ultra glide speed bonus doesn't apply with the Seaglide.
So I have two gear sets: fast and maneuverable for quick trips around a base/sub, and endurance + seaglide for longer expeditions.
Agreed on the charging fins. Now that the batteries are reusable, I think charging fins could be made a bit more efficient or versatile to get up to par. They're still good with the seaglide, but again, I don't always bring a seaglide.
1. Walking around on land on the floating island where I'd rather have the extra 4 slots of inventory space to pickup stuff
2. Walking around on land in the spaceship again where I'd rather have the extra 4 slots of inventory space
After both these instances, I'm always going to be using the Seaglide. Thus, there isn't really any reason to care how light my air tanks are. I'd rather have high capacity. Light tanks are just sorta pointless, I think.
However, the oxygen tanks are radically changed in Experimental and all this is now different, as I detailed here:
https://forums.unknownworlds.com/discussion/151852/oxygen-tanks-in-experimental/p1
I've not played a game from start since this came in, but I can see how I think gameplay will change. As soon as a bit of Silver is found, fabricate the High Capacity Oxygen Tank to go from 30s to 90s per tank. As well, no more than 1 or 2 spare tanks are needed, but will have to swap between the inventory and paperdoll both before the swimout to be sure the tanks are full, as well as during the swimout as soon as Oxygen is under 45s. It's irritating that you can't see the oxygen in a tank by mouse-hover.
Then when the Modification Station is available, upgrade to the Lightweight HC Oxygen Tank as it is also 90s but drags less. And the Ultra HC Tank only has 110s and 20s isn't worth the greater drag.
Similarly, I end up using the Swim Charge Fins over the Ultra Glide Fins as having Battery recharge either with or without the Seaglide is rather powerful. And if I want more speed, I use the Seaglide.
EDIT: I've since started a new game in the current Experimental and I've up to Battery Charger, MPR, Water Filtration Plants, and Seamoth. Developing as I thought it would above. Wrecks need 1 or maybe 2 spare tanks and 6 empty inventory slots for swapping. Even with 135s of breathing, wrecks are complex enough that going without spares risks dying.
But I feel the ultra capacity tank isn't slowing down that much anymore and still allows to escape predators.
In case you use charge fins you need the bulky Seaglide for speed.
And in the last week, there's a lot more Crashfish (and without trying I've now got a lot of Cave Sulphur). I'm getting really cautious taking my Seamoth in the larger caves. Having the Seaglide and being able to just turn and burn and get out of range is a real joy compared to bobbing and weaving and hoping to only get hit a bit.
Experimental. And I only use a single equipped tank, so tank size doesn't matter. That gives me max inventory and speed.
Before I can upgrade I use the Seaglide.
The tanks doesn't add up anymore, but you can still drop the used one, and place a full one in the paperdoll.
(There is no mouse-over to know the % and the tanks only recharge on the paperdoll, so check them one by one before leaving or you might have a bad surprise)
