Ns Affecting Other Mod Installations

I run a Half-Life server for my clan. We like variety so I have set up DOD, Firearms, TFC and now NS and TOD as well to run as a server. The one we have tended to play the most has been DOD and until a little while ago it was working very well. However it would appear that after I installed NS my other mods were adversely affected. Since I installed NS I have been having problems with lag spikes and crashes in the other mods. Has anyone else experienced this? Is this possible, or is it just a coincidence?

i haven't noticed anything...your box could be maxing out if you are running them concurrently

NS is a huge cpu hog. I would install NS on another drive separate it from the other hl mods. and dont run it while running DoD or anything else.

I'm not running the other mods at the same time. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> They are however all installed to the same Half-Life directory. I'm thinking what I might do is install Half-Life twice and use one of them exclusively for Natural Selection.

making a second install of halflife isn't going to fix anything. It must have just been a coincidence that you got spikes after the install

I agree. Unless your going to run more than 1 HL server(or HL mod), you only need the 1 installation of it. It wont affect performance on it.

I regularly play TFC when I'm not playing NS and have no issues with NS "taking over" my Half-Life install. Something else is going on, though I can't say what.

I would say it was just a coincidence as well if similar things hadn't happened to other friends of mine. Other friends of mine had strange things happen like flags (indicating objectives) in the DOD GUI disappearing after they installed Natural Selection. I won't be installing Natural Selection into the same game installation as the rest of my mods, not after this experience...

well unless you're installing ns to the same directory as another mod and stripping out all the path information manually it really shouldn't be possible for it to screw up another mod. Unless you have a REALLY crappy hard drive or something
