I am struggling to remember a time when redemption actually worked...
Carapace is MUCH better.
*or is nerfing only when you make something less powerful? <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
Nerfing is making something less powerful.
Redemption needs a boost to be anywhere near useful.
Celerity - Ability to get around the map quicker, run from marine teams, and chase down fleeing marines after I've sprayed em off... bonus.
Cloak - Because I can hide near chambers mid building, then come back out when the group has gone, all the while reporting their location to skulks.
BlueGhost
Carapace is just too imbalanced right now to not use it, I won't even go into it.
Adrenaline (assuming movement was built at second hive) means you can use healspray and web more. If you're supporting your team, which you should be as gorge, you should never have to run away, so celerity shouldn't be useful. Gorges shouldn't be sneaky and alone, they should be with their team, so silence should never be needed. Those fades around you are probably making too much noise anyway. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
Cloaking is just icing on the cake. Advanced hivesight doesn't really have any use, and gorge isn't fast enough to track down wounded marines, and shouldn't even try, so SoF isn't much use either.
Redemption has helped me get away from those one or two marines who damage me and I'm hiding, running around a corner, anything to get redemption kicking in. In those scenarios, carapace hasn't helped me. Of course, there have been times I had redemp and wished I had carapace and vice versa, heh.

Ah. Thought so. Thanks <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
My upgrades as Gorge:
Defense -- Redemption (don't lose all your rps when you die; this is important)
Movement -- Celerity (you can shoot 2-4 webs without adrenaline. Why spend time trying to kill marines when you can run away much faster?)
Sensory -- Cloaking. (obvious. you can build while cloaked, which is nice)
A carapaced gorge can take a LOT of bullets. They're tough little buggers. Redemption can save you from losing all of those precious resources if you're in a vulnerable position (and if you're supporting your team, you're always the most vulnerable one, since the marines will be focusing on you, and you can't escape very quickly). Regeneration is a good choice for sticking with teammates in an attack on a location with sieges, so long as you stay out of the way of enemy fire.
Adrenaline means more healing, more webbing, and eventually more babblers. A lone marine is doomed to an adrenalined gorge, no matter what equipment he has. A silent gorge is harder to find, and thus makes a better support gorge, or if you have momvements first, silencer can save a gorges life. Celerity means you can get from place to place faster for building purposes and for retreating.
Cloaking can save your life easily. Scent of fear works both ways, it lets you chase down injured enemies (not likely as gorge), and it lets you keep an eye out for enemies so you can retreat (in almost any resonable sized squad of marines, at least one will be at least slightly injured, and lone marines are almost always hurt if they survive more than 30 seconds in the first place).
Adrenaline when you get 2nd hive, since you need to be able to healspray/web spam at the front lines.

Thing is, with carapace, you would not even have to bother running away... <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
The thread's meant to be about Gorge upgrades <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

If I saw 5 marines charging at me ("KILL THE FATTY! RAH!"), I'd sure as hell run <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->.
I remember once when I started playing NS, got redemption and started evolving near the marine base. Marine comes starts shooting and *poof* I'm at the hive.
my most often used upgrade cfg.... carapace/adren/cloak
..
Carapace and Adrenaline
Frankly, as a gorge, I wouldnt travel far without any Off and Def towers, so carapace and webbing are ideals.
Celerity: In addition to being fat and ugly, you're also slow, this helps counteract that.
Cloaking: Because everything else is crap.
Welp, with 1.04, I generally go this route:
Redemption -- Much more useful in 1.04, and it's not like you're a fighter anyhow.
Celerity -- Run from danger! It also helps waddling from place to place. Really, Adren only gets you one more web shot per "clip" anyway.
Cloaking -- Duh.
These three combined generally make me a <i>very</i> hard to kill builder.
If you had a DC or two nearby you would not have to. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
Plus, if the marines are that organized, and your skulks did not even let you know that the marines were coming your direction anyway, your team is probably going to lose... <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
