Crabsnakes are safe, Crabsnakes are in the shallows

Was wondering how i should deal with this situation. I went into my world, explored a bit, and i come back to my pod. I see a crabsnake and I am like ummm. It glitches and goes away and then it comes back and kills me. The following links are pictures of the situation. FYI i take first two screenshots, die of thirst and then respawn to be killed.

    I had one follow me out of the lower caves after my first foray in to them, with this update.
    It wandered around for awhile and then just disappeared.
    I tried to scan it but it was too wiggly out in the open.
    Much easier to scan them when they are somewhat still in a mushroom tree.
    It never did attack me, even though I chased it for a couple of minutes.

    Is it because that there's an entrance to the Jelly Shroom Forest near Lifepod 5? Was this entrance always there? Or was it added in this new stable(ish) build? I never noticed it before.
