defensive/offensive mining
well, anybody knows the situation: its midgame and the enemy has at least 2 hives, main base has some turrets and is attacked by mean ugly aliens.
this strat is against expensive melee fighter like onos or celerity/carapace fades.
very easy and very effective
aliens attack teammates and turrets and whatever.
they stay until low health
while they are occupied, your comm gives you some mines
you run past the aliens, they should not notice you
lay the mines at base exit
aliens are low health, flee, in the chaos of fight, they dont notice mines
BOOM *spladder*
dead alien
i dont know if anybody has ever used this strat, but i never saw and heard of it before and as it came to me yesterday evening i tried it out as a onos attacked our base. i made exactly what i descibed above and i was surprised how good it works.
the secret is, they should get surprised by the mines.
sorry if it is not as clear as i wanted it to be
and id like to hear what you think of laying mines in the back of an attacking enemy

but placing at exit is nice , on the floor ...
man, am i dumb...
place them on the floor so they will not see them immediatlely and when they walk over them, its a lot of damage to an already heavily damaged alien
so to all the comms outside: remeber to drop some mines when you are attacked, even when it seems strange.
it migt solve your problem (big fat ugly onos)
Try that yourself, you'll be amazed. While you're at it, try firing at the various parts of the onos model. You'll come to realize that the hitbox is quite a bit smaller than the model. Aim for the center!

Mines are so horribly underused. Well placed they can be wonderfull little presents for that special xenoform in you life.
Ive got a questioned, How badly do mines dmg your own structures in Tourny mode?
in case of an attack, you grab them and lay them down as described above, it should work quite good if your comm trust you nad the teammates wont take the mines...
the great thing is that when the strat is more common that onos and fades will think twice until they attack
they just cant notice every marine running past them...
so its a very nice thing, i like it muhaha
for example in the map with vent hive, sewer hive and generator hive (i forgot its name ) it was like that:
ill try to make a plan:
????????m??m???m?? m
?????? --- ?m??m??m ----
?????? |??????????????|

<-to cc??---?????????? ---- ?????????? |
????????? t?? ?? t ????????????|
?????????? t t t t t t???????????????? -------
????????????????????????????????->to rt
t=turrets
m=mines
the onos was chweing turrets (was inside base) i hopped over the outer left turrets and laid mines in the pattern shown above.
no one can notice a marine in this situation hopping by, at least its difficult
Good fades CAN blink over mines, altho most of em don't.
BlueGhost
thats not the way...
you lay the mines in their back when they retreat from an attack, that means low helath, low adren for a moment and they totally wont expect mines where they just passed some seconds ago...
