Onos Paralyse Problem In Beta E

<div class="IPBDescription">I think it needs fixing.</div> I recently tried a beta 1.04e server and had a blast and I was very anxious for Onos, to use the paralyze feature on pesky jetpackers after learning from one of the threads that this skill ISNT a melee weapon as I thought.

But as soon as I went onos i had a one problem, when I used the paralyze feature on onos (a extremely under looked ability) It didnt quite work well. I had to hit a marine FIVE TIMES for it to work.

For example: a marine is coming down the elevator in Bast at marine spawn (I THINK it was bast) anyways I hit him with the paralyze and it didnt work! hit him FOUR more times and he camly walked up the ladder back the spawn!!. It only worked some of the time when i Spammed it. Was it just me? or does this need fixing? this was on, like the topic says the latest beta 1.04e server.

    The marine spawn ladders on Bast has the ability to block some projectiles. Your paralysis may have simply been blocked by the ladder.

    Well I read that and considered it but I tried it also when they werent even near the ladder and also on the other side of the ladder as well, hell I even shot them completely out in the open and it still took like five shots to take effect. <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->

    It's true that Paralyze is not a melee weapon, but it *does* have a range. he may have been out of range.

    doesnt paralyze just make them not be able to shoot, but can still move? or is it vice versa?
    Ive tried to use it a bunch of times and its never worked. A marine let me try it on him for about 3 minutes on ns_noting one time, and it never worked even after i had hit him with it about 100 times.

    Its SUPPOSED to "freeze" the marine, he cant move for like 7secs, it is used to get jetpackers out of the air and into your mouth, or for them to fall to their deaths <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> but as of late I have to hit the damn jp's like SEVEN TIMES for it to work, this really needs fixing, it should work just like parasite really long range and EFFECTIVE...

    Odd. I've never had a problem with it. Out of curiosity, Killy... what are your system specs?

    Ok I'd like to add that I once had a similiar experience with three hive onos and a jetpacker. I swear to you that Paralyze does not work on jetpackers. It maybe was a freak bug thing but I am positive I paralyzed this sucke because he wasn't even flying but running away as I was paralyzing him and I had adrenaline and was sucked dry attempting to paralyze him, then guess what, he remembers he has the HMG and blasts me away. Also I think the bugs forum is useless since posts have to be "reviewed" before they are included. This simple little irritation stops me from going into that section of the forums. For instance, the skulk hitbox bug thread is like dead now that it was moved to the bugs forum.

    Also I'm not sure what version beta this onos paralyze bug was with. one of the 1.04 servers, either c or d.

    eh not the best but not the worst either,

    EDIT: oh I forgot I am also using Winxp prof.


    the only problems I have with halflife is it crashing when i try to go into the mod menu while in game..

    Half life has numerous odd bugs, for me it crashes every time I alt-tab to desktop... but only if Im not playing online. If Im playing online it doesn't crash. On my p2 with a voodoo2 (only use it to surf the web) it never crashes.

    Lucky you, it crash's on me when I go to the menu AND alt-tab. It was stable as a rock under win 2000 ...

    I've actually had the same problem on a 1.04e server. As an Onos, I was running a marine down, right on his tail, but I was gaining too slow. I switched to Paralyze, shot twice, but he continued moving. I ended up hopping to Primal Scream, using it, then casually mauling him. I thought it was just an isolated incident, but it was the first and only time I used Paralyze on a 1.04e server. I hope that if there IS a bug, it is fixed soon.
