bigger inventory

there is a lot of technology in this game, so why not some droid that acts as a locker that travels with you, but that would be a bit to simple so to get the robot to follow you you have to make a little device so you can tell the robot what to do, like travel back to base and put stuff in and then come back, with a 4x4 storage and you have too keep it charged, or a power cell that you have to replace sometimes, or organic material like the thing for the base, or nuclear energy. and make these all upgrades for the thing, like you can upgrade how deep it can go.

not an awful idea, but i feel like it'd quickly become more of a pain than it's worth. what happens when you can go deeper than it can? does it just crush and die? can it exceed it's safe depth briefly without crushing? how would this be better than simply having a storage upgrade on your seamoth or prawn?

What about a belt option? Kinda like how divers have weight belts, ours could just add like 10 inventory spaces.

thats true but what if it was an upgrade for the seaglider, that you can let go of it and it acts as a robot then, and then you can pick it back up so you can use it again.

could be interesting, but it's another system they'd have to code, test, implement, etc...and id rather that time went into polishing already-ingame systems or things that would have a larger impact on gameplay (like a bigger sub :3)1

LOL it would be sick if your cutefish could carry one item like a stasis rifle, bc it follows you

we have luggage bags that we can find around and in the aurora and its debris fields

in experimental they have been made into small storage

    https://trello.com/c/a2r6IICi/6019-luggage-can-now-be-used-as-storage

unfortunately it seems they cant be opened from your inventory and their is no gain, that is just like the floating storage it has the same amount of space that it takes up

    IE:

floating storage: holds 16 units of space, takes 16 units of space

luggage: holds 4 units of space, takes 4 units of space

a drone could become a pane in the ass if say it keeps getting caught up in the topography as well as attacked by hostile fauna and flora

it would be better if we could make/ find gainable storage

yeah. they'd have to program and implement a pathing system for a drone to follow you. 12 years in (with a huge budget and team) and wow pets still can't do it right sometimes. and yeah, if it's a separate entity in the world, can it be attacked by hostile flora and fauna? if it can, what happens when it dies? does it jettison it's storage where it dies? does it's carried stuff just....go away? can it keep up with a seamoth, or does it need to be carried while you're in a vehicle? what happens if you need to leave an area quickly (like...reaper attack or needing food/water quickly, etc. etc.) and you don't have room in your character inventory to pick it up? i'm sticking with my earlier thought that there are a lot of situations where it becomes more of a pain in the ass than a few extra inventory slots is worth.

i'd also agree that there should be ways we can expand our inventory somehow, maybe through being able to unlock more tabs of storage like our current player inventory, maybe through other means, i dunno...this just doesn't seem like a great solution to anything :D

was reading your post and had an item/upgrade idea which will provide some more space in inventory

according to wiki The Luggage Bag can be picked up from debris piles in the Crash Zone, Safe Shallows, and in some of Aurora's living quarters. can be placed anywhere the player wants and is planned to provide 9 units of storage, taking up up 4 units (2x2)

does not say anything whether it can be opened from the inventory or if you have to place it somewhere on the ground/floor like the floating storage

it would be nice to access it from your inventory without putting it down
