I haven't played NMS and was pretty neutral towards it up until the content controversy stuff... But despite my lack of investment, when I saw Angry Joe's video about it and saw that ending I was livid on behalf of the people who played the game. That's a major slap in the face, I mean, JEEZE.
Some people would say that it is all about the journey and not the destination and some games work well with there being no destination. If NMS was a sandbox MMO, then it would work. The universe would develop over the years with everyone's contribution. However, actual multiplayer in NMS was proven to be a myth when people realized that you can reload a previous save in NMS and when two people tried to find each other.
I've already given my opinion on NMS. The latest update is decent but don't don't change the core gameplay. In NMS grinding IS the gameplay. In Subnautica grinding is only a small part of the gameplay. And even though you discover really different aera. In NMS, whatever the devs says, it's always the same planet with only cosmetic changes.
And further more, NMS has no story (they say player invent their story, lol, maybe we should develop the game too ?).
