    Well, if you're planning to reinstall Windows, you can just reformat from the installation screen.

    Boot up your computer, and boot from CD. The installation app will let you delete your existing partitions, set up new ones, and basically format your entire machine for you before it installs a clean copy of Windows.

    If you want to make a FAT32 partition for whatever reason, however (like if you've got multiple OSes, like I do), you're going to need a Windows 98 formatting utility. 2K/XP really wants you to use NTFS.

    Just be sure to backup everything you want to keep first. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    4 boot disks!?
    When you "create a boot disk" on 98 you only need 1 disk, but on XP it asks for 4 :-/

    Good luck on the format, make sure you have all the drivers backed-up

    Yeah, backup all the drivers you need. With XP you don't need to usually though. If you format in dos, I recommend doing 'format c: /s'. It copies the system files so you don't need a boot disk after it just in case anything happens.

    @psykisk

    huh? lost me on that one, could you explain it a little more? TY

    yah, I am also installing a new vid card ((geForce4 Ti 4200) so no worries for those drivers

    but does it realy matter about drivers? (I run win2K) most things will be detected/work on default even with out drivers. Then I can simply go to sites and DL the latest drivers for my stuff.

    Or Does it realy matter?

    If you've got brand-name parts, the Windows Update should locate all the drivers you need for you.
