Any possible solution with POV / Size Reference issues?

Things, especially creatures in the Subnautica look at least 3~5 times smaller on the screen than its real size.

Nobody will believe that Ghost Ray is like 20~30 times larger than player himself and a half of a leg of Crabsquid is as large as a player.

I think it's due to POV issue. I heard people playing with VR do perceive the size but on other screens btw.

Any solution or plan for this issue?

I believe this is a general problem of first person games. Same happens in Elite Dangerous, spacestation interiors + ships look really small - until you see them through vr.

The way we perceive images is very referential - see forced perspective for instance. If you have no or no adequate reference point, it gets really hard to know the size of something judging from a 2D image. That is also the reason that the developers have implemented a command to spawn a size reference entity.

See this page if you want to know more: subnautica.wikia.com/wiki/Debug_Console_Commands

(The code is "sizeref", but did not work for me since last build)

So long story short, as long as whe have no reference point, like a third person camera, perceiving size will always be a problem. And I don't think a third person camera would work so great for this game, as I would find it rather immersion-breaking.

As for solutions... well, as the developers changed blood color of the fauna to yellow to get a lower ESRB-rating, seeing an npc beeing eaten by a reaper leviathan would not be the best idea ;) And then you would still have problems with things like the G.U.N or the Aurora - these look rather small on screen but in VR, holy hell, especially the aurora from close up is overwhelmingly big. Had to fight a feeling of vertigo when looking up beneath it for the first time.

But great topic nonetheless, I would really be interested what the dev's have to say about this :)
