Multi-purpose room not available

Hi,

Having taken a little break, I started a new game and activated the NOCOST option so I could quickly get a functional base set up before enjoying playing the game again. Unfortunately I found that I was unable to build a multi-purpose room with the habitat builder. I could see the icons for all the tunnels, windows and hatches etc as normal, but not the multi-purpose room. Does anyone know why it might not have been available to me please?

Thanks in advance!

You need to scan it in the floater Island now.

Or in the JSC. Fragments spawn just beneath the opening closest to the abandoned base. Possibly also beneath others, but I haven't checked.

    Thanks!

Although it seems weird to me that the game would require the player to swim all the way to the floating island before being able to build a simple base to live in and store things. I don't suppose anyone knows the reasoning behind that please?

We do. The MP room counts as luxury, not as part of a "simple base". You can live just fine in the corridor for a good while and that's the point. There's actually quite a lot of furniture you can put within one corridor.

Ah I understand, thanks again all!

    Hehe, neat little base :)

Floater island south of spawn is the way to go. So much stuff to scan there for base building.

Also, MP is a necessity, not luxury. It is required for quite a few long term survival add-ons like the alien containment, water filtration, and two of the reactors. You want to get MP as soon as possible. And then scour the Koosh wreck to solve all your food and water needs.

As of right now I can successfully survive farming marblemelons in my X-corridor base, no need for alien containment or reactors.

OK fast track to MPR (you'll probably need a Seamoth):

From your pod, head SSW until you cross a thin kelp ravine, back into a band of shallow and find another crashed pod (#7 I think) near a thermal vent. Head to the thermal vent. Now turn east and go a few hundred meters until the shallows turn into sandshark blood grass flats. At the exact juncture where this happens there will be some holes in the ground. Dive down into there and you will enter the jellyshroom caves directly above the abandoned base there. Scan the MPR in the abandoned base one time and you'll have the blueprint. You're done. Head back straight up and out.
