<div class="IPBDescription">You know that blue map in the corner?</div> Well, I we all know that blue map in the top right of the marines HUD is about as much use as a solar powered torch, but Flayra said is another thread that 1.1 would see the minimap as it was meant to be.
However, as 1.1 is still a while off I took it upon myself to make some colour minimaps to replace the blue ones, and stick them in a nice little zip for you all.
Ok, first lets have a screeny to explain what I have done

Now lets have the download address.
<a href='http://link.ukan.net/customminimaps.zip' target='_blank'>http://link.ukan.net/customminimap.zip</a>
Full instructions are included in the file in the readme, and you can always go back to the blue if you don't like the colours as long as you make a backup as instructed in the installation guide. Installation should take around 1-2 minutes, so not exactly rocket science.
OK, I think thats it, so let me know what you think. Oh, and I not sure if I'm meant to host this where I have, so anyone wanna host it for me if I get asked to remove it?
Anyway, happy NS'ing

Oh yeah, I expect that this is in the wrong place, but I really couldn't think where to put it.

Looks good from what i can c. better than plain blue.
Would be good if there was different colours for the different levels of elevation or something. Or the hive areas in the same colour would be good.
Actaully, you can do it now. Just edit the HUDs so that you have a dot in the middle of the minimap area...
What the hell do I know, I don't do skinning crap...
I think the blue maps *feel* right for the game.
Coloured and detailed minimaps just dont look right to me.
I'd like to know how to do that sort of HUD editiing myself, if you wouldn't mind me MSNing you? I'd like to try out a skin for the marine HUD, make it sorta like the inside of his helmet kinda thing. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
1/. I don't know, so uninstalling them before installing 1.1 may be an idea. The instructions on how are in the zip.
2/. If you mean mp_fileconsistancy then probably. But who cares. I have some custom sounds and skins that get me shut out if consistancy servers, so I don't play on them.
and I am gonna PM you my msn cos I don't want everyone knowing it, and I will tell you what I did.
uranium - 235. Much appreciated. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
Acrylic - If you wouldn't mind mirroring, could you stick the link on this thread for us? Cheers <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
Thanks for not refering.
You know why 2 of the minimaps (caged and Bast) have "perfect" color while the other maps need much more gamma and contrast and have some lines that dont belong there?
Because I made the 2 ones, and the black BG`ed were early versions of this:
<a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=4&t=17945&hl=minimap' target='_blank'>http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/in...7945&hl=minimap</a>
And that's kind of why I stopped using the color minimaps. When I got near the edge of a map, they stretched out horribly and got very pixellated, etc.
