I really want to get NS up and running looks like a really good game, better than CS.

Go to your HL folder, select Hl.exe (or cstrike.exe if you have retail) make a shortcut on the desktop. Right-click and go to properties.
The should be a line like this:
C:\Sierra\Half-Life\hl.exe
OR (Cs retail)
C:\Sierra\Counter-Strike\cstrike.exe
Change it so it looks like this:
"C:\Sierra\Half-Life\hl.exe -console -game ns"
OR (Cs retail)
"C:\Sierra\Counter-Strike\cstrike.exe -console -game ns"
Ns should work then without using mod viewer.
2. how could i of got that screenshot with the error on it, if i couldn't run the game
3. i was asking about mutiplayer, if i had a problem with putting a shortcut on my desktop i would ask a printer press tech.
And another thing, i installed my hl on my "E" drive.
{
at_notice,
at_console, // same as at_notice, but forces a ConPrintf, not a message box
at_aiconsole, // same as at_console, but only shown if developer level is 2!
at_warning,
at_error,
at_logged // Server print to console ( only in multiplayer games ).
} ALERT_TYPE;<!--c2--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--ec2-->
that's an ALERT( at_error, ... ) message... but I don't know if it's in the engine or in the server DLL... I think it's the engine.
Do you have HL 1.1.1.0 ?
I think i might have that version.
Is there a later version?
and you shouldn't get message parse errors.......... it's really strange
BTW: i've already tried reinstalling it & half-life as well.
Have you tried using a third-party server-browsing program?

The ASE's got my approval. Maybe you can pass the problem all together outside of HL.
My questions are 50000 miles ahead of you.
Don't need a server broswer <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->
Just try the damn thing to play. If you can we might find a solution. If you dont like it, thats where the thrash can is for.
LAN games are going to be a bit tough.
perhaps he already has one
Otherwise reiinstal (if you havent already solved the problem).
Thankyou for your help, but there is one tiny problem, when you connect it keeps the menu up in the corner and you can't see what your doing, if you press Alt + tab it goes away but sometimes takes the sound with it.
is it the res?
