Boats?

Subnautica is a water based game/planet, why are there only subs why not boats? Maybe a small fast one, maybe a mobile base of sorts I don't know, but something.

surface ships have always been faster then subs, in theory a boat would be able to get around the map faster then the fastest sub/ sea scooter in game, in my imagination it would be slightly larger then the seamoth have quite a bit of storage but less health as its main purpose is logistic support perhaps it could have a small airpump that allows you to drop an airline similar to the airpipes to a certain and limited depth. like you go to a panel like you go to operate the lights in the cyclops to engage a gravity anchor and drop an airline to a custom depth such as the line can be dropped to a depth of 50m but not any deeper then 99m the start of the players supposed crush depth I think

I don't think you should be able to build in/on it like the cyclops but be more like the seamoth it could make a good starting vehicle

Yeah, boats should be in game. Any idiot can build a boat, much less a possible starship engineer.

A small inflatable motorboat would be nice for very early game when you are scuba diving and being able to drive to a point, "anchor" (boat would have automatic station holding ability), and commence your dive. After a dive you return to the surface for air anyway, so clambering into a small boat to return to the capsule is a given.

When traveling on the surface, you are safe from small predators including Stalkers. However, a Reaper will snatch you from the surface at any chance.

Materials to build the deployable and re-collectible dingy would be:
*6 silicone.
*2 batteries.
*4 titanium.
*1 wiring kit.

Being re-collectible would enable the player to carry the boat with them. It would take up the same space as the Seaglide.
Deploying from underwater will drag the player to the surface rather suddenly.
The boat itself is 1 meter wide by 2 meters long when deployed. The two batteries give 3,000 meters travel at 10 m/s. Can run on one battery but has 1/2 range and 2/3 speed.
Can be upgraded to use a power cell and gives a range of 15,000 meters travel and a speed increase to 15 m/s.

Maybe have a larger faster and longer range boat later.
