Easier way to destroy old bases quickly

Hi,
I've noticed that building too big of a base or too many of them can cause some serious frame rate drops.
Unfortunately, I build a huge, towering base that's not going to be easy to deconstruct since it's so high above the water.
It's going to take me days to delete all of it and I'm really dreading it so there should be an easier way to delete an entire base all at once.
Here's my suggestion for the most enjoyable way you could allow us to do that:
Let's us completely destroy a base by causing a meltdown in a nuclear reactor connected to the base. Something like putting a material in there that doesn't belong could cause it kicking in a warning to remove it for people who may do it by accident. Set a 10 minute count down timer and when that expires, there's an Aurora like explosion and the entire base is gone leaving only a random set of fragments and materials behind.
This would make the game so much more enjoyable.
I wouldn't feel so limited in what I can build without experiencing these problems if I knew I could just quickly delete a base I don't want anymore in one simple move.
Even a command line that would just delete everything I've build would be fine if the above idea isn't doable.

While I'd love to see something cool with the meltdown idea, I can see technical issues arising with the whole explosion/deletion method.
^ This however would be good for alpha, as the game is still in DEV and is far from being optimized. I imagine it would work like:
Command: DELETENEARBASES
Action: Searches and selects bases within 50 metres of the player (marked by the shared power). Deletes ALL objects that are selected.
