Can anyone tell me do you have to restart for the new update to work?

I don't think that you HAVE to, but they did change some things in the beginning hour or so of the game, like new signals that are definitely worth checking out. Not sure about the whole Aurora situation though. I'm guessing that you would need a new save to get all of the new Aurora stuff.

    I had to :(

Finally found the mobile vehicle bay fragments so I can build my seamoth. It sucks starting over.

According to the developers, you don't have to start a new game after the update installs, but according to the very recent update I got... they say it is highly recommended that you start a NEW GAME, in order to avoid any technical issues or something like that. I guess you run into these problems when you've bought a game that is still being made and you have to download updates for it, in order to keep playing or get more content!!!

I'm wondering if not starting over is what is causing me to have the general room and other blueprint glitches. My cyclops (I can build one) but still says only 1/3 which has actually gone down from 2/3 pre patch. But the general room glitch is weirder. I have travelled to a few abandoned bases and cannot scan the general room as someone mentioned and it's gone from my blueprints and fabricator menu's. Anyone else solve this?

@scoutts that definitely is what's going on. I was able to scan the blueprint from a base on the island.
