Commanders, Watch Your Waypoints!

A poor WP messed up my aim...
I tried to post this to the bug forum, but it doesn't appear to be in there... so I will at least post it here, as a warning to commanders who may not realise the severity of this bug.

I was a marine today, our team was doing very well; we had taken one hive, taken out a 2nd, and were slowly working our way up the tech ladder to snag that third one. I had HA/HMG and was running fire support for the team, when I noticed something odd. The commander gave me a 'defend that target' waypoint that I couldn't find. I thought nothing of it, until I tried to walk backwards, away from a skulk...

The comm had accidentally waypointed me to protect myself, and the waypoint blocked my view. Since the waypoint 'lags' slightly behind my position, it was only visible when I moved backwards. But, the same thing happened when I aim 'up'...

Commanders, please try not to do this. It seems to only happen with HA, which is (I think) taller than normal marines...

Ah, this is the first time it happened to me, but it really messed me up. I was having trouble in combat... would have /kill'ed myself but that would have wasted the 50 RP for HA/HMG =/

Actually, in the first you can see me asking for one But even so, I was hoping to find out if that particular bug could be fixed, as it saves the marine and the commander time...

He selected you, then right clicked you, therefore asking to bodyguard yourself.

I do that to people when I feel like being evil, or when they aren't listening... only when we're playing to have fun, not win.

    its a guard waypoint

if you click on a marine, then right click on him, he will be ordered to guard himself...

then that nice little icon will be above his head forever!!! muahahaha

er, well, till he gets a new waypoint.

happens with all load outs too, not just HA

I love it when NS fecks up, and you manage to give a "Build structure @ Waypoint" command to a hive

now if you marines stood still it might not happen. This is the usual cause for this. Although if you weren't heres another possibility.

In this particular case a comm may have tried to get a load of other marines to follow you. and had to select you in order to do it. Sorry thats life. Ask for a new waypoint it should be all better when 1.1 comes along.

Well, if we'd stood still, usually we were trying to avoid being turned into Skulk doggie food.
