Go to the site <a href='http://www.hkpro.com/oicw.htm' target='_blank'>http://www.hkpro.com/oicw.htm</a> and they have a little diagram of WHY the ammo is so expensive... lots of little circutry that allows aireal bursts...

as Spyder Monkey said on a post in the M&S forum

The GL is based on the OICW.

It's not waterproof, but I'll wager $100 they're going damn hard to try to make it...

The modeler did say in an interview that he was inspired by the OICW in making that gun.

Quick! Who can tell me what the GL model used to be used for?

The HMG? (Thus the bullet like magazine for the grens?)

SMG my arse thats full NATO rounds used in M16's. SMG's use pistol rounds, that uses full assault rifle rounds.

Anyway id prefer the F2000 by FN Herstal (http://www.fnherstal.com/html/F2000/F2000D.gif)

But still a good comparison between the two. I wonder if any other models have been inspired (LMG-Sten?)

Sure, the OICW is powerful, high-tech, etc etc etc.... But it just doesn't have the look of the Steyr Aug A1 <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

Jesus. Looks real fancy... but you couldn't beat a man with that gun without breaking it. Maybe we should issue croquet mallets and butter knives to our soldiers, I think we could fix our friendly fire problem <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
  • moto43moto43 Join Date: 2002-11-23 Member: 9742Members
Have you ever played croquet? The urge to use that mallet in a "non-standard" manner is almost overpowering at times.

Monsior Croquet: You see your highness, we give the two men who are arguing these mallets and these balls, and they must hit the balls around the town untill they reach a hole in the town square. By the time they've gone all around town and done this, they will have talked out their argument.

Thats one frikin high tech bullet.

Im proud to have my tax money go into a gun that looks so cool, now the real question....does it run on Linux or Windows? <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Soldier 1: DAMN! Blue Screen!

Soldier 3: Hey look, I can get pr0n on this thing!

Hey, anyone remember Fifth Element? Now THOSE were some serious guns.... The "Recall" ability... Fire one shot *boom*... And *starts firing in all directions* Recall sends every subsequent bullet to the same location... *bullets turn in mid-air and hit the target*...

Stripped down G3 variant...that's a shortened version of the HK33 Assault Rifle Carbine I believe
  • DojDoj Join Date: 2002-11-12 Member: 8277Members
The LMG is much more like a G11 than the G3 varient on the OICW. For one, the LMG and the G11 both use caseless ammo. Also, the first version of the G11 used a 50 round magazine as well. The scope is also permantly attached and can't be removed. Annnd it fires a round smaller than 5.56, which would, if the LMG was using the same legacy rounds, explain the "large" number or frounds to down a Fade, etc

Ignoring the fact that the lmg has a VERY out of date sidefeeding magwell

    I assume style outweighs substance in this case <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

Worthy for it to use a design predating WW2? don't think so. guns were designed with side mag feeds for ease of firing out of trenches. here...it's completely redundant

thus my own ut assualt rifle for it!

well I'm sure styles part of it probaly, I mean marines even fire lmgs with 1 hand (same with the shotgun). Now I've never tried in real life, but I'm pretty sure its not a good idea. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

I'm pretty sure there's a "retro" trend going on, just look at some of todays cars. (not that I agree with certain designs)

Yeah, soon the marines will wear hats and shoot tommy guns, or lean against the wall flipping coins while they idle...

No no no, you have it all wrong. The people who made that gun played NS alot, and liked the nade launcher so much, they thought "Hey, why not make a gun that looks like it!"

    Okay....maybe not.

Because NS is not a firearms mod, and them having weaker weapons forces them to clump together and work as a team.

If you don't like the looks of them, goto the models forum.
