If Flayra doesn't want us to use custom sprays that can fool people (and only a few WILL be fooled) he can just lock the pldecal.wad so it can't be changed....and as for myself, I use D3D so I don't see spray's, I'd do it to psych someone out.

And I would hardly say that's cheating. It's most definatly not allowed in league games, where it would actually matter. If I saw something like that in a pub game I would jsut laugh my **** off.

Really, if it comes down to seeing fakey skulk sprays and... erm... well, the XXX rated sprays that I've been seeing on some servers, I'd much rather see the fake model sprays. At least that has something to do with the game and doesn't break the rating for whatever server I'm on. ;>

I'm not even going to bother to argue with anyone that thinks skulk sprays are legitimate.

They're arguably not *much* of an exploit, at least. Heck, I'm half way tempted to humor them cuz it's a funny exploit to use.

Frankly, I don't care.

I'm only stating it's an exploit to add anything to the game which gives you an unfair advantage, but I'm not demanding something gets done about it.

Don't go whining to me if it gets you banned from a few servers. All I did was warn you it can be seen an exploit.

Errrm, custom sprays are a part of HL. You can make them look like doors, ladders, etc. Of course, they don't REALLY look like those things and they certainly aren't cheats. YOU control whether you see custom sprays or not. It's an option right in the menu.

if you want something that bad what you do is you get your own sever

and then you get the spray model plugin

it creates a full 3d model ingame just as if the person were standing there

it is not an image it IS the model ingame its really cool

trip alot of people up that way

If you don't enjoy Old men porn, nasty pictures, fakes, etc. Simply open up your half-life/ns/"config.cfg" file find the command "cl_allowdownload 1" change it to 0. No more sprays, after 1 year in the HL community that has been a permanent addition to all my mod's configs.

i like the cloaked fade one, the skulk isn't bad either... but i've always perfered my closing door spray, as soon as you spray it run an animation of a door closing(TFC like door) so if some one was chasing me i'd spray as i round a corner and they would see a door closing as they passed and try to open it themselves... great fun!

sprays are part of HL,not an exploit at all, besides servers can disable custom sprays so it doesn't really matter, if you dont like it, go to another server.

Long since. They animate once per time you spray them and they're smaller sized (due to the animation frames taking up part of the 15kb max).

It could, if you make it just the smoke clearing. Then a marine sees the smoke once, and if he's stupid enough to realize it has no depth and smart enough to know ITS NOT A FREAKIN JETPACK, then "OMG they got fades!"

I can't believe anyone here truly believes that a blurry, 2-dimensional smear on the wall could be considered any kind of a cheat.

Unless you have no depth perception at all, it's not hard to tell the difference. Even if you perfectly match the viewing angle to where you want to place these fakes, they aren't affected by lighting changes the way models are, and bullet holes are pretty visible when it's been shot a few times.

Good for a laugh, at the most. They won't fall for it twice and the r_decals setting will probably kill your masterpiece before anyone sees it.

Guess what. This isn't the CAL forums, this is the "<b>General</b> Discussion" section of the public, Natural Selection forums. Custom decals are a part of the game. People have probably been exploiting them since HL's beta-testing. If you don't like it, fine make your case against them, I at least will listen. But don't deny the right of other users to discuss them here.
