Can't switch items bug

So I loaded up my save and now I can't switch items. It's very weird because I have the propeller thingy in my hands, yet the inventory slots are empty. I put items in my inventory slots such as the scanner and habitat builder but i cant equip them. I press the number as I always did but nothing happens! I'm stuck with the propeller in my hands. Pls help

Something similar happened to me once. It was after pausing the game for a long time (like 1h or so, cant remember exactly) All i could do is bring up the last tool i used before pausing. All inventory slots had cleared and were unusable for some reason. Couldnt find a way to fix this so i logged off then back on, that fixed it.

That bug never happened to me again after this

I've tried restarting the game 3 times so far, with no luck. I've gone inside and out of the little survival pod a bunch of times and saved and left and restarted and every combination possible!

I don't have as much luck as you

Are you able to enter seamoth? that might force unequip. If you aren't at that point in the game, spawn one with "cheat" commands, then destroy it. One option is to crash it into a bunch of acid mushrooms.
