Dunno about PC users, but I'm playing on XBOX ONE.
The trailer footage is so silky smooth and crisp...
I believe the trailer has been recorded on PC hence the smoothness, that being said the PC version of the game is ahead of the Xbox version of the game, so you'll find things like the frame rate and bugs will be worse at the moment on Xbox One, that being said the devs have stated already in a lot of posts on the forums, that they are working hard on bringing the Xbox version of the game up to where the PC version is at.
So think of the Xbox version as an investment (Game Preview after all), it's only going to get better, until then just need to persevere with the bugs and continue to feed them back on the forums and in game

This trailer was recorded on PC due to it being on Steam. There should be a certain level of optimization going on to get it working better on the Xbox, but there is no way to get decent fps and create the crazy bases that are possible with the current Xbox.

Totally agree, just need to adjust expectations slightly, everyone knows PC's outperform consoles.
Fun fact, the xbone is so shit, developers were seriously considering slowing down the speed of the seamoth, because with normal seamoth speed, the xbone cant render stuff in fast enough
Hm, renembering another topic where I already said consoles aren`t that powerfull like pcs and got flamed for it... . Sigh.
"Deep diving into the topics to search for it..."
Edit: I didn`t find it. Netherless, the times where games were put on consoles and run fine are long gone. Day one patches found their way there, too. And no later than it began consoles needing permanent internet conections I seriously questioned where there advantages are... .

Couch gaming factor, ease of use and platform "exclusive" titles (which usually tend to expand to other platforms after a while anyway). That is where consoles shine, but don't expect PC grade graphics. And by being far away from the TV and a low FoV as a result to zoom in to be able to see stuff. You don't really notice the lower graphical fidelity anyway. It's just that we PC gamers are almost inside the action, that's why see bad textured stuff more easily and have higher standards (unless competitive gaming enters into the mix, they tend to lowres all the stuff for even more FPS)
So in a way, console gaming has it's benefits as does PC gaming. I for one am quite amazed they even got it to run on the Xbone at a "playable FPS" this early...
Couch gaming can be done with Pc too, controllers work at Pc too, you know? If we would travel back in time 20 years I would agree with you. Had a playstation 1 there. But todays consoles are more and more like pcs with inflexible hardware. I admit they`re a bit easier to handle as Pcs, but other than that... .

Of course couch gaming can be done with anything nowadays, Heck even smartphones can share their screen on smart TV's. But it is much easier to do with consoles. I mean, most proper gaming rigs are loud bastards, who'd want that stuff in their living room. So couch gaming factor is still a fair bit superior for consoles where convenience to set up the couch gaming corner is concerned
Well, we do have "Steam machines" and the "Steam link", those might give the consoles a run for their money and for oldschool emulation you could get a Raspberry Pi or similar. But PC's in general do still require more infrastructure compared to consoles. I'll take your PS1 and raise you the true master, which also happened to save the gaming industry from total disaster and bankruptcy. The one and only, the big kahuna... The Nintendo Entertainment System
Nes, xD those were the days.
Snes too. Had so many great games, snes-final fantasy for example. I don`t wanna count how much money I spend for games on this console ;-) And considering those games were just about 3-15mb big files for an entire game unbelievable how much fun I had with em. There are still some titles from the snes that are unmatched until today for me. Screw graphics if anything else is splendid.
The only way you'll ever see parity between the two versions is if they intentionally restrict the pc performance down to whatever the xbone can tolerate.
We are all gamers, but it is ludicrous to pretend a console can handle the kind of coding a pc can chug through at peak load. Hence why features like the really-cool-voxel-terrain-system-that-intially-sold-me-the-game-as-high-quality is being removed, because consoles can't handle it.
I welcome our console brethren trying to play ported pc games. I find it hard to swallow losing good working features that make a game stand out though. If we could get a full version for pcs, with a game-lite for consoles (remove the voxels, slow the seamoth, lower the textures etc, or whatever they can't handle) then everyone gets to use their hardware's full potential. I'm gutted we are losing terraforming on the pc version because of this, because it's a feature that really sold me on this game instead of the numerous other more primitive looking survival games out there atm. When you start losing features in xbone games because they want to sell copies to tablet and mobile phone gamers you will start to understand the frustration of seeing a good game getting limited and restricted for a port to inferior hardware.
For the people disagreeing with my post, I'll assume it is a kneejerk reaction to the statement your hardware does not match a pcs. That's not meant as an insult, it's a simple fact. Look at the spec sheets.
Xbone has a CPU clock speed half of a basic gaming pc (1.75 GHz for xbone, a whole 0.15Ghz faster than my 3 year old mobile phone...)
Xbone has a GPU clock speed of 850Mhz, as fast as a mid-range 9800gt graphics card released in 2009...
Your ram in fact, is the only thing up to par with a pc built in the last 5 years.
You will encounter issues a pc will not notice. That is why there is a whole extra forum for you.

That wasn't the only reason why terraforming was removed though. It also was removed for gameplay purposes, so you can't simply burrow your way into areas which require a new tier of tech to access (caves mostly). And it also was kinda way too complex for a detailed world like we have. But I do share your concerns that perhaps some elaborate features might be influenced or cut, by having to develop and getting consistency between the consoles and PC.
But this is the world we live in, consoles get released with already dated hardware to make them affordable. And their hardware is frozen in time during the entire span of their lifetime. As a result this does tend to have an some kind of influence on multiplatform titles, in some form. Usually badly optimised/performing ports from console to PC, it's a good thing Subnautica is being ported the other way around for PC performance I guess...
But then again, this is a worst case scenario. I hope I'm overblowing the issue

First of your reasons doesn`t count, they could simply restrict the terraformer from changing certain materials, like some cages for nasty Sealife if that`s what`s coming... .
I would like to point out that there is a thing of running silently in PC rigs, I know because my computer normally runs in silent, and none of my components heat near enough to be concerning. The chassis has a major role to play sadly and if you get a more airy chassis, you end up getting cooling without risking noise from having to overclock fans. Granted this is also dependent on the number of fans you have in the case.
EDIT: Also I leave my rig in the living room for couch gaming purposes, some PC titles are just more fun on controller.

Those aren't "his" reasons. Those are the devs reasons.
The developer's reasons were as follows: (paraphrased)
1. Being able to bypass caves and other hand crafted terrain.
2. Performance slowdowns after massive amounts of terraforming.
3. Save file size bloat. (Users in some cases have save sizes that exceed 1GB, all due to terraforming) This is a particular problem with Steam Cloud and Xbox One save cloud.
So bwc?
For 1 as I already said, implement unchangeable terrain.
2. The Terraformer has been there very long, so they should have the time to change something about it instead of removing it, but that ain`t the only performance issue if that`s true what Lightdevil said. So do you want everything that causes performance problems being removed/downgraded?
And 3 is the same I already mentioned in that other topic I don`t find anymore, wasn`t very fun having the console fanboys crawling up to flame me saying Consoles having problems with that (yes, cloud related, but still a problem for these systems).
But I admit 3 would be the most problematic to solve since somehow the terrain changes have to be saved and uploading such huge save files are not nice. But that could also mean sand digging could be removed, making it even harder to setup the Moonpool properly without getting the Seamoth always ramming the ground when exiting it for example.

Well, actually consoles are also more affordable. so that's the reason I bought a console. But PC's are still way better.
Consoles are quite literally gaming pcs that are easier to use and have less features....... and are normally less powerful. Just have minor exclusives really. And honestly if you think of the amount of games that can only be played on pc or are best played on pc. Steam has WAY more exclsuives.

Subnautica is works perfectly for me. The only time I get lag tho is passing between biomes in a vehicle, and exploring a new area for the first time. Other than that the game runs perfectly for me. I use PC to run it. I guess it's something with the Xbox. Then again I have no idea how I turned my obsolete piece of junk computer into a machine able to run No Mans Sky on max graphics quality. (Yes I can actually do that without lag)
One major issue with Xbox is the fact that all of the game content must be pulled from a (slow) hard disk. This is also a problem on slower PCs, with hard disks. UWE has been working on this, and I expect this will be mostly (although not completely) resolved before SN is out of beta.
