Are there plans to allow fish to respawn or at least breed in the wild?

I know I saw a discussion on this here a while back, but I am wondering if the devs have said anything about it. The depopulation of fish is a serious bug/issue, because it's usually caused by the local predators more than the players.
I really think Creepvine Seeds should respawn and fish should breed.

Uh, em, yes...
This would be (with all my respects) a very lolish way of doing it...
- I killed a Stalker!
- Oh, look! It pooped a tiny little Stalkie!
- Yay!
A few days later...
- My name is Stalkiñigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die!
The way I would prefer to see it done would be like having some exponential growth of the population of any given fish at any given biome up to a capped maximum. In this way total extinction is still a possibility (although *hard*), and the population of fish will increase in a more or less realistic way if they start disappearing for whatever reason. All the magic would be in setting the time constants more or less right.
Simulating a stable ecosystem from first principles I guess would be far too challenging.
P.S. I believe the intent was to do this for "small fish", not for the big predators.
