Hello divers,

do you like it to know/hear every single change in Subnautica or do you never check the Production Tracker to keep youre excitement to dive into the deeps?

I purchased Subnautica early and i started it the first time months later.
I didn't know what awaits me in this new world an everything was new.
I haven't checked any videos or news and i started my adventure.
The first time i was extremly nervous by all this new sounds and i turned around million times, cause i didn't know whats trying to eat me.
It was a uniqe experience and my mouth stands open for minutes, cause i was so fazinated about the beauty of this world and the soundtrack gaves me goose bumps.
My first contact with the Reaper Leviathan was horrified!
I JUMPED out of my chair and have never felt so tiny, like at this moment.

I said: ,,Unknown Worlds makes his name all honor, again!"
The development team is doing his job perfectly and you dive into the unknown by real!
You don't know whats awaits you next and you get extremly excited (with faster heartbeats) by discover new areas.
The problem with the Production Tracker is, that it takes youre excitement.

You take one look in to the Production Tracker, the forums or the news and you know about the new Seadragon.
You know how it looks like and how big... BIG it is.
The next information would be: Where can i find it, when it's implemented?
I don't want to know it, cause i will like to experience the game like the first time.
Is it really a epic engagement when you know everything allready about this giant?

I like to hear how the community thinks about this question.

Greetings,

Dustin Kiba 'Lyeaux'

I mean I check it whenever I read someone mention it on the forums.
But I mostly just play the game.

Never thought about that but i agree with you. This reasoning, however, is battling with my curiousness and impatience.

I check it every day, and it just fuels my curiosity. Like today they added the blood kelp biome, and added some kind of "slot density button", whatever that is. Seeing these things make me curious to find out more about them, and if some beast shows up and murders me, then oh well, it's a part of the experience.

I read it almost daily also and it IS a mild spoiler in some cases, but most of the time it doesn't make a huge difference. I mean, we know a good bit about the Sea Dragon, but not nearly enough to be a spoiler. We don't know if it's aggressive or docile, intelligent or dumb, fast or slow, amazing abilities or just blah.
I'll put it this way, if I showed you a picture or two of a particle accelerator and told you that it was now installed in your home...would you know all about it and what it does?

I've thought about this as well, and there is some part of me that misses the suspense. But then I think about all the other early access games where the devs are uncommunicative and vague, not engaging their player base in a meaningful way or not doing it often enough. Not that they don't mean well, they're just bad at it. I VERY much prefer UnknownWorlds' method of doing things. 100% transparency and unrivaled fanbase engagement. Besides, if they ripped out the IV drip I have hooked up to their trello I might die from the withdrawal seizures.

I check about 3 times a day, I love being apart of the development, but the good thing is the team still keeps somethings secret until the update comes out!

Exactly!! I didn't know of the tooltips at the Aurora that were added until I decided to explore for the heck of it. Right now there's no reason for me to go there

What you describe as a problem is the whole point of Early Access. If you don't want a game to be spoiled for you, then don't buy it until it is released and play it then.

Early Access is all about giving players an insight into the development process that normally happens behind closed doors. If you don't want to know all the nuts and bolts of what is coming etc, then you should really avoid buying Early Access titles.
