Idea for a new vehicle, a type of mobile mining rig.
Concept:
A massive, lumbering 4-legged vehicle, the Sea Crawler is a deep sea exploration and mining robot.
Construction:
>Players can walk around inside, similar to the Cyclops, but with much less room
>The player enters/exits the vehicle through a hatch on the bottom
>Inside the vehicle is broken up into 3 main parts
>The body, about the size of a regular Corridor
>On one end is the Cockpit, where the player pilots the machine
>On the other is the work room, similar in size to the Lifepod, with built in storage and a Fabricator, and enough room to place other modules.
Mobility:
>High Crush Depth, allowing it to walk freely around the current map.
>Can scale cliffs, making up for it's inability to swim.
>Rooms are gyroscopically stable, capable of rotating and spinning as the mech climbs walls
>Emergency engines can activate to flip it upright over should it fall onto its side or back.
Functions:
>Powered by 4 Power Cells, each of them draining in unison and supplying 25% of the total power to the machine.
>Small grab claws mounted to the cockpit can gather resources and punch monsters
>Ladder on the floor of the Body allows the player to climb up or down if the machine is positioned vertically
>Highly resistant to Lava, Crashes, Reapers and Sharks
>Each of its legs has its health separate from each other and the main body, with a small panel in the cockpit showing the health of each leg. The Crawler can still move even if one of its legs has taken 100% Damage. Getting two legs destroyed will make it stop.
Customization:
>Its functions can be expanded further by adding a module to the top of the machine
>Seamoth Dock can attach a Seamoth to the back of the craft to carry it around. Player must exit the Seamoth into the ocean and enter the Crawler from the underside.
>Cannon Turret can fire Vortex Torpedoes to automatically defend itself or an area from predators while the player works.
>Solar Panel can slowly recharge the Crawler when stationary
>It can also take the Cyclops Power Upgrade in its Engine, making it 400% more efficient.
Basically it's the mech equivalent to the Cyclops, where the Exosuit is the equivalent to the Seamoth.

Especially that part.
You gotta bring it back up at some point, right?
It'd also be cool to be able to use it to climb up onto the side of the Aurora and salvage stuff from the top or something.
Want.
*claps* Once again my good sir you have described something wondrous that we need in this game. Bravo, now we need some land vehicle ideas.
Well we'd need to have landmasses large and important enough to necessitate land vehicles, first.
I mean sure there's the Floater Island, but that's hardly large or important enough to require a vehicle to traverse it.
Though maybe something like an amphibious bike, where the wheels can turn sideways and become propellers when it enters the water.
But I want to drive things on Floater Isle...
I have to agree though. For land vehicles to really have any purpose, there would need to be landmasses other than Floater Isle and that tiny little area of sand around the Aurora. And even then, for them to be useful, they'd need to be able to be transported. I'm thinking, instead of amphibious vehicles, we just have a big, empty boat (like an assault lander, almost), that you can drive the vehicles onto. Then they'll attach to the boat so they don't glitch (like how the SeaMoth does to the Cyclops), and you can drive them to the next island to explore.
After deciphering that, I like that idea.
Of course, why would I ever refuse? c:
*nod* I'll get on it right after the Primal.
It's called the Landkreuzer P. 1000 Ratte, a German tank concept from WWII that was never actually built. The largest tank ever actually made was the German WWII Maus, at 120-something tons. The Ratte would have been 1000 tons. Treads as tall as Tiger tanks, and a ground clearance so high it could go over someone without touching them.
If we have land vehicles, I want a Ratte.
My tank is fight.
War is hellarious.
Good point.
But, if you think about it logically, the Ratte would have been more of a fear weapon than a true "weapon" per se. Sure, it's a 1000-ton block of metal with a pair of naval guns, but the incredible size would mean it couldn't use bridges or railroads to get from A to B. It would also be a massive target for bombers and artillery. Its main use, aside from blowing holes in things with a pair of 280mm cannons, would be to scare its enemies shitless.
Exactly. Thing is, it's a land vehicle. The only things that might threaten this would be giant birds and stuff.
Unless the devs add a bird big enough to pick it up then in that case im never leaving the water
But what if it can grab you out of the water?
Exactly. Drive along the bottom of the ocean, yelling at fish, "My tank is fight!"
It's only supposed to be as big as a corridor inside.
imagine like a Corridor, with a Seamoth attached to one end, and the Lifepod attached to the other. The rest of it is covered in armor, or a place for the power cells to be stored.
Got it. I'll get to work on that when I have the time.
